Metroid is a cool game, you play some woman in a suit who runs around on a far away planet killing aliens. But movie-able? No way. Theres one charakter in the game and a lot of aliens. And when Hollywood starts adding stupid cliche characters, everything goes bad...

you must realize that there are a lot of metroid fans out there, me being one of the greatest. They might be taking it too far making it into a movie, but this will bring more fans to the franchise, and plus it's the best game ever made besides the legend of zelda. it will be awesome to watch, even if the story will drag a little because there is just one character, but they might go into her origins and all that cool stuff. plus, me might see her out of her suit at the end!

u quess metroid movie should be made in 3D, not real person. juz like final fantasy the movie. for example: metroid prime trailer shown metroid in 3D which almost like real person, movement #1. I cant diffrenciate it!

i am a metroid fan, and i am currently playing prime, but i really don't think this will make it as a movie. they need some hefty special effects and no cheap slow-motion like the matrix! i hope this doesn't turn out like the resident evil movie, or i'll never watch a game-tied in movie again!

i think the only way a metroid movie might work would be if it indeed were only samus and she would be the only thing with a voice,. maybe like small AI in the varia suit that reads out loud the things samus scans,.. special effect wise it would indeed have to be grade A, i guess like a mix between alien ressurection, and the blasts outta sumtin like 5th element or uuh, yeah,. some movie with cool blasts... the problem here is it would never happen like this becuase holiwood wont make sumtin with a high budget that would never ever sell,. knwoing the dialog is so limited...
but as we've seen with many movies that are made out of games, comics, cartoons, they nearly always suck ass to the true fans. I as a die hard metroid fan, am scared sh*tless that comercialism and general 'sold-out'ness' will f*ck up a true masterpiece of a game as a B movie.

Well to be quite frank I would have to say that I think a Metroid movie sounds great. I for one like it when they make movies out of games.
But for one thing Samus in this movie could not be the only one that talks. I mean come on what kind of movie would that be someone solving the puzzle alone? She needs a radio contact and some guidence if nothing but the ships computer.
Making a movie out of Metroid is a great idea if you ask me just like if they made a movie about The Legend of Zelda. But I am just one opinion out of a million.

I don't think there can be any question about how good the movie can be. Samus Aran is the most powerful force in the galaxy. She was ophanded as a child by an attack of Space Pirates and adopted by the Chozo, a highly evolved race of bird-like people. The Chozo custom made the powersuit specifically for Samus Aran and as long as it's supplied energy, it's organic and mechanical components completely keep Samus sustained. Plus, she's got a really big gun and countless abilities developed by Chozo technology. w00t

One of the best games ever made.

Heck, Metroid Prime won game of the year more times than anyone else did. And recieved it from the coveted "Game Developer's Choice Awards" which includes representatives from just about every console development company.

It being one of the most innovative series of games and truly a monument in video gaming history-does not make it a good movie.

With the two directors in place, and considering their past 'works' one must seriously wonder whether Samus will get the movie she deserves.

The best we can hope for at this point is that it is monetarily successful and thus driving people to want to play the games.

Ok, for any one who doesn't know already: Metroid is only the game that had sequels on almost every nintendo system. (the original was on NES) Its about a bounty hunter named Samus Aran who has been asigned to wipe out a potentalily dangerous species of alien (the Metroids) that can suck energy out of creatures AND can mutiply at high speed. (Samus kills all but one in Metroid II: Return of Samus, the last one hatching in front of her, thinking she is it's mother, who later saves her life) The Space pirates (which look like human-lobster crosses in most games) take intrest in the Metroids and capture a lab specimen and take it to the planet Zebes (their base of operations) and plot to use them for war, galactic conquest, ect. Samus infiltrated Zebes and blew up their three leaders (Ridley, Kraid and Mother Brain). Thats the basic story line.
And no, the X parasites aren't the result of a "metroid brain experament", they evolved naturaly, and were the Metroid's favorite food. Samus is infected by the X in Metroid 4 (aka Metroid Fusion) and the DNA of the baby metroid that thought Samus was it's mother (official tite: The Last Metroid) saved her life.

Nyiri here, I've gotta say, I respect the fact that you've got plenty to say, for and against the movie, but what is wrong, most players will watch the movie and either reinforce what they think or change their minds but they are still going to keep playing the games afterwords, I mean, I play mario brothers (every game below N64 that is) all the time even after I saw that sucky movie, I don't even care, why should you?
P.S. (I really want to see a metroid in realistic animation, not trying to diss Prime but I want to see them 'realize' the metroid, I love the little critters!)

Well if they do make a movie it must be something...like sciencetest ...What ever... Found new life forms on a plant wanted someone 2 go there, samus goes then boom... her ship gets destroyed she calls for back up. Ten days till they get there. so she has to survie..?...( dont make her have all this show off then that Craop). (she has 2 find parts 2 make her own ammo and new abilitys. she faces tons of Big loads of Monsters. well you can add on also.

i think that ppl who play and made it should put ideas for the movie like me...well for ex. samus suit should remake missle, she should find parts to make weapons, her gun should go low and have 2 recharge and she has 2 fight, her suit has a fist aid kit, Now the planet... her and ten other bounty hunters were sent to Zebes to caputer life forms till there ship is destoryed they called for help 2 get off the planet...they said in tens days...Cna they survie that long...

They are going to have to get someone like Tom Hanks to play Samus though!!! He's the only person I know who can act with little or no dialogue (Castaway)! I know, Samus is a girl... but if they have Hanks in the suit, and he doesn't take the helmet off, you will never know, until they get to the end, when Samus removes her helmet to reveal.... Bridgette Nielson!!! (The only 6 foot blond I know in showbiz!)

Uh... Yeah. That was the story of the suckiest Metroid game ever made, Metroid Fusion. The X parasite was one of the stupidest additions to the Metroid saga. It had a good story line, but the game wasn't very good at all. I hope they disregard thatr totally when making the movie. But you know what the funny thing is? Metroid Prime was made by Retro Studious and was better than Metroid Fusion which was made by Nintendo.

Who ever doesn't like any of the metroid games must be mental. I've played every one and Metroid Fusion had very good gameplay. Samus actually talks on there. It may have been short but it was the most fun I had in a while. I even played it over and over again for fun and to see Samus without her armor. And she is so hot. I'd like to get in her pixels.

In Metroid Fusion the Biologics research lab was floating above SR388, the home planet of the metroids. The abandoned space vessel in Metroid Prime was in orbit above Tallon IV.

uh..your retarded, it had been forever since i had played a Metroid game when Prime was first released so i got real cought up and into it. Super Metoid kicked ass and i was excited to get another edition. But once i picked up Fusion, I feel in love, it wasn't the best of the series, but it kicked the holy ba-jesus outa Prime. I just had forgotten how well the game works as a Platformer...either way...the movie should be tight, no matter what the recent additions are like, i mean, come on! Metroid kicks some serious ass!

sorry bud...i know we all wish for the low dialouge only samus story and movie...but we're not gonna get it. I mean, look at Tomb Raider, or like Mario Bros (bad example SUCKED) But, like they did in Tomb Raider, a lot of it will probably on some planet... with a love interest, and corny side-kick (possibly AI - it is Metroid after all) but...hey! that didn't stop millions of fans to go see Angelina Jolie run around in short shorts...i mean, its a dead givaway that the end will be samus, runnin around with practically all of suit gone cept the neato arm gun thing-a shower scene here or there-blah blah blah...and even thought it will be bogged down with comercialism and other twists to appeal to the general public, i do believe that it will still stay true to the real fans..they always seem to do so, that, and how can you go wrong with the idea of Metroid...it appeals to everyone who ever wanted to fight aliens in a tightness armor suit thing...plus it'll attract a lot of womens rights activists..or not..anyway- im just sayin not to get your hopes up for the one man show...but still see it, its bound to still kick ass

I can't wait to see a Metroid movie. But made by the same guys who made American Pie? That sounds like a pretty stupid move on nintendo's part. And everyone who says it should by a computer generated movie is stupid, Squaresoft lost literally hundreds of millions of dollars on the Final Fantasy movie and then couldn't remake FF7 and FF8 for PS2. But the fact it is a video game movie worries me, the FF movie was good, but it wasn't like final fantasy by any means except it had a guy named Cid in it. The Resident Evil movie was pretty cool, even if they didn't stick to the storyline. But then you got sh*t like Super Mario Brothers and Street Fighter. If I had a gun I would kill anyone who says Street Fighter was even watchable. I read that Jeniffer Gardner may actually play Samus, and that the movie probably won't be based on any of the actual games, just like the Resident Evil movie.

Well, you've heard many things about Samus, but you've never heard how she started out. Well, Samus was a normal little girl in a earth colony called K-2L. Soon Space Pirates attacked Samus' colony. She was the lone survivor.Chozo people from planet Zebes(which was attacked and made HQ by Space Pirates) found Samus and took her in. Samus was raised by the Chozo people. The Chozo were amazed of Samus' warrior skills. When she was a mature woman the Chozos made Samus a "Power Suit". Samus wanted revenge on the Pirates for killing her parents. I believe Metroid the movie will have to be worked with perfectly in order to create a good film- it is so simple to creat a cliche hollywood movie, especially with losing sight of things like plot and sticking to the original Metroid storyline,and sacrificing these key eliments for things like flashy special effects and sex appeal, such as "Samus in the shower!!!" True, this scene would be interesting to watch, but if I wanted to see samus naked I'd go to some hentai website, not see a Metroid movie. I simply hope they make Metroid as good of a movie as it is a videogame- I am, however, a little paranoid that the rights were sold to the wrong people. I'll admit, American Pie was a funny movie, but Metroid is a whole different subject, am I wrong? I just hope these guys are die-hard Metroid fans, and want to respect the video game, rather than simply buying Metroid rights to make millions of dollars, which Im sure they will make regardless. Anyway, I was going to expand to say that I agree with the person above a bit who said the Legolas (he spelled the name completely wrong) from LOTR, or Orlando Bloom, would make a perfect Link if they created a Zelda movie, however he might refuse the role seeing as he probably does not want to be seen as an elf his entire acting career, however the link for "Return of the King" trailer has caught my eye and I'm going to go watch it about 50 times, I hope you guys respond!

Well, unlike most people that I have talked to, or heard from. The Metroid movie was going to be finished by the end of next year, But now Nintendo (being the a**es that they are, are trying to pull it and stop it from being made, because they supposedly wouldn't be making any money from it.
Now they orginally had Angelina Joie as Samus. Personlly I think that is the only person for the part. I have seen previews from friends that I know showing a scene of her running from explostions and the computer telling her to run pass the speed booster, and then her (warping) to safty. With Nintendo trying to pull this movie or already have pulled this movie ( I will be keeping a watch to see) I will boycott Nintendo untill the day they go belly up, they have had there hands in enough games that they don't need to run movies now. Just in case most of you don't know Rare has offically said that they will not be making games for Nintendo after this year, and that they are going to Microsoft and the Xbox, because Nintendo F'ed up the game they where making that is Star Fox Adventures. Star Fox Adventures wasn't suppose to be that, Rare had come up with an awesome game until Nintendo stepped in and told they either make our game game or you won't make another for anyone. Nintendo needs to shape up or ship out!

All im saying is There should be a zelda movie not animated or cartoon. a Movie, for one Zelda the sword of time is something new and fresh and nintendo is already looking at that and is trying to make a script and i heard this on the net. second of all If the Zelda movie is made it should be simialar to the lord of the rings but even better im not talking about peter pan or just like the lord of the rings. Ok, anyone who thinks a Metriod movie would have to be without diolauge, you've obviously never paid attention to the story line in the games. While a lot of the creatures that Samus faces in the game are native to the planet she happens to be on, the Space pirates themselves are very intelligent, so I'm sure they could talk (I mean, if they can build space ships and weapons I assume they are smart enough to talk). Also Ridley, while he may only look like a dragon, is one of the commanders of the space pirates, so he is obviously intelligent as well. Thirdly, since Samus can talk, but she was raized by Chozo, they must have taught her to talk as well. Aside from these creatures, I'm sure a producer could come up with other characters mentioned in the games that would be intelligent (like the Torizo, Dachola, the Etcoons), so it would not be hard to have plenty of spoken lines.
