You are so right, Tom was a very important part of tolkien's world, however, he was not a protagonist in the Lord of the Rings book. Therefore what is the use for him to be in the movie. He is an interesting character and I would have liked to see Jackson's take on his character, but I think he made the right decision to leave him out, Tom would have been far to confusing to those who did not read the books.
Good work Jackson!
Niccccce Hobbitssssssss!

Tom Bombadil, eh? Well, as much as I appreciate old Tom and Goldberry I must tell you that old Tom was entirely unessential to the story and he appeared nowhere in The Silmarillion. He was suspected to be a Maiar, and he had little interest in anything outside The Old Forest. His involvement did nothing to move the story forward and in every scenario I ever envisioned for the LOTR film he was the first casualty if nothing else because of time constraints.

Yes, I did hear that. If you want to know where to find stuff about the Two Towers, I suggest you use the search engine Google. It's fantastic. I used it to find stuff about Lord of the Rings(The Fellowship of the Ring) and I found everything I needed. If you would like more information,
post another question on this website and I will try and answer it.

THis is me Ringmaster13TLOTR biggest fan just saying that the secound movie was even greater than the first and the third should even be better. The battles with the orcs and gandalf coming back to life. Also the helms deep battle was fantastic. I have to say Peter jackson is the best director ever.

Honestly, I think that Lord Of The Rings The Fellowship Of The Ring and The Tow Towers are the BEST movies I've ever seen. I love every character, But my favorit must be Merryb/c even w/ all the Hobbit things on he is still a very sexy guy! I would take his very hairy feet any day!

peter jackson is no tolkien......the movies are alright considering the graphics and all but the way jackson screws the two towers up he should have came up with a different name....when the ents go to attack orthanc all the trees move not just the ents move....the way shadowfax looks in the movie doesn't give him any justice as to the description in the book...JACKSON SUX ASS & TOLKIEN RULES

Unessential? If not for good ol' Tom Bombadil, Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry wouldn't have made ot past that wraith nor the trees.
