I think they mis-ID'ed that quote as Diesel explaining the sequel in the last paragraph.  According to Dark Horizons last week, Ja Rule said the exact same thing on MTV.

Yeah, Pitch Black 2 alright, but no way its gonna be just the same storyline as like in pitch black 1. Don't believe Vin Diesel would tell what its going to be about and dont hope that jarule s going to be in it. Jarule's okay, but... hey, he'd be just lost next to Vin Diesel.

i went on a site that showed a idear for the secand script and they say that it might be love story / sci fiction thay said that they might do something between jacka and riddick
