Fast and the Furious 2 Confirmed

According to Upcomingmovies.com, 2004 will mark the production start date for "The Fast and the Furious 2". SPOILER In the end of the first movie, we learn that Vin Diesels character has escaped the law and made it down to Mexico where he's still living his life one quater mile at a time. Question is, did his crew make it too, and will the feds keep chasing him.

The first one was a big earner in the box office and has done quite well as a rental/sales, but as of so far only Ja Rule: a minimal character in number one, will return thus far. Will it happen? and Just what sort of plot (if you want to call it that) will number Two go with?

I thought I read somewhere that the second flick dealt with Ja Rule's character taking on another rival car gang in Miami. Could have just been the standard rumor mill crap though.

Fast and the furious was a horrible movie. It was fun to watch only becuase of the sweet rides. It made me want to get a job and a car or possibly steal one! Im sure tons of people will go see this movie just for the cars. I hated the movie. That Keanu Reeves talking wannabe Paul Walker . When I hear the guy speak I wanna take a pipe wrench to somebodys head if not my own. They should re-edit the entire movie so when he talks its just crapping fart noises.

Release Date: Unknown; that will depend upon when production starts, and that will depend upon when a script is approved, and cast available; Universal will probably want to get Vin Diesel to return, and given his busy schedule, that suggests the earliest this could be released is 2003; maybe 2004

Director: Not announced yet; it's unknown if Rob Cohen will return to helm the sequel. His next project, Triple X, will reunite him with Vin Diesel.

Screenwriter: Gary Scott Thompson (1992's Split Second, K-911; cowriter of The Fast and the Furious)

Based upon: This will be the sequel to the 2001 surprise hit movie, The Fast & the Furious, which as of 7/14/01, has brought in over $110 million in the USA, and is likely to end up with around $150 million, for a global total of probably double that... on a budget of under $40 million.

Title Note: There's no word yet (7/14/01) what the title of this title might be. Keep in mind that the first film went through several titles (Racer X, Redline, and Street Wars) before TF&TF. Here's hoping they go with something like The Faster and the More Furious (or even better, The Fastest..., etc.).

Premise: (7/14/01) No details have been announced yet about this film, but if you saw the ending of the first film, you probably have your own questions about "what happens next", and presumably, this sequel would address them (which would require the return of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's characters, at least). The first film dealt with a gang of street racers who highjacked semi's to fund their need for speed, so they're the most likely focus for this sequel as well (depending, as I say above, upon the cast).

Filming: There is no production start date for this project. Vin Diesel, for example, has a full plate, with plenty to work on until at least mid-2002, so I would guess that's the earliest filming could start (presuming the script and cast are ready).

The supra will be back with a few other supras, apparently a Nissan Skyline will have a large role, they are looking for various cars, Hondas (like I really neede to tell you) At leats one Neon, an MR2, WRX.
Earlier this year, a pack of about 30 cars with F&F style paint, decals, and body kits was seen driving north of Miami, around the time of the casting calls.
Filming starts Sep. 9th, so keep your eyes open, and If you live near Miami and see anything, keep us posted.

And since the first had a cameo by the director in a Ferrari, possibly a Lamborghini or other Very high-end sports car. There is also saiid to be boat and motorcycle racing involved.

In Miami... No Ja Rule... Skyline a yes... BMW appearances... Cast and Crew has been arriving during the last 3 weeks... Tyrese aka Baby Boy will have a large role. I find it very interesting that they word base this one here in Miami since the st R (Street Racing) scene here is not quite that organized or popular. well, it's being shot down here in Miami, FL. so far, i've seen skyline's, lancers, supra's, eclipse, s2000 and other's. all the car's looking very good and healthy! looks like a very good one. ja rule is not part of the movie, ludacris is in it, as well as the local asian-rapper from South Florida "JIN" Tyrese is in it, and the story i heard about the movie goes like that, Brian get's another chance to prove himself once again by trying to take the Miami Street Racing Circuit, now how it goes, i do not know... but i've been at some shooting's down here in Miami and it's looking great! later
