Killbot, I'm not being irreverant, I'm pissed.
I met Staley at a radio station after a friend interviewed him. He was a smart and personable person for a rock star, and was very into meeting all of us when he could have just shuffled off to his tour bus for another hit.
Just because his girlfriend died of an overdose too doesn't excuse his stupidity. In fact, had he really cared, that alone should have been a wake up call. Instead he decided to keep going down the fateful road of cliche and do the same stupid ass things that took Kurt Cobain, River Phoenix, Chris Farley, Shannon Hoon etc., etc., out of the dwindling talent pool of our generation.
I, for one, do not care to see it anymore. A nice car crash is extremely underated and just random enough to leave a question of "Why?" A drug over dose says: "Why not?"
So f*ck Staley! I'm not going to generate false sympathy. Leave that to the trolls and the shemps.

none of us have the right to judge layne staley's dilemna that eventually lead him straight to his demise. we all are addicted to something. his addiction killed him faster and left him no dignity. alone we are all weak and certainly not fit to judge anyone. the sadder we are the deeper we search for some sort of comfort. we all dig quick fixes and dream of a cure. some of us are stronger than others. some of us make better choices than others. but, that does not give us the right sh*t on him, especially when we never fully understood his situation. is was not all about fame, too much money and drugs. try and read between the f*cking lines.

I don't know what makes you think your opinion of Layne is supreme. The way you carelessly pass judgement on him or any other person who has expired due to drugs simply shows ignorance on your behalf. He nor anyone else has ever asked for your sympathy I am sure, and I am also sure your malicious opinions are of even less importance. Remember an opinion is like an a--hole, everyone has one! Let the fans of Layne Staley remember him as they will, but live with the knowledge that no-one cares for your negative opinion on the subject!

I don't know who this will go to, since I randomly stumbled upon it. However, despite this, I wanted to say that were I half as cold-blooded and ignorant as whomever wrote this piece of sh*t, I would wish chronic deppression upon them or someone they know. Because I am not, I think a simple "f*ck you" will do it.

Junkies are junkies are junkies. They got no respect for themselves and if they don't pull their heads out of their asses they eventually (sooner than later usually) end up dead - probably with a needle still stuck in their arm.
AIC was a cool band. Staley had a lot more going for him than most folks. A lot of people would kill to make it as big as he did in the music industry.
The fact that he had it all and was still so miserable he had to shoot junk says a lot . . . and ain't non of it nice neither.
It sucks he had to go and off himself - accidentally or on purpose (there is no accidentally, actually, with junkies - in the end, they got a death wish and in the meantime they are just ticking off days on the calander till they hit that last big fix) - but the fact is he *did* kill himself with his junk and becaue he *had* accomplished and attained all that he had in his life, his killing himself with junk makes him a Fuc*ing *LOSER*.
That does not change the fact I like some of his music. But he spiked a vein, one too many times, and caught the ultimate rush as a result.
Hey, I love the music of the Doors as well. But Morrisson is still an ass for riding a white horse to his grave.
Junkie musicians are passe' man.

Did you know him or what he was going through NO! So don't be talkin stuff, when some one has a problem with drugs especially addicting one's it is almost impossible to stop; enless you want it to happen which he did. The point is he was doing what was making him happy you and I do the same thing. Layne Staley was a very talented man he will always be missed and remembered. This goes out to all of you low inconsiderate people who think you know although you have no flippin idea at all!
