While waiting for Panic Room to start the trailer for Damon's "The Bourne Identity" came on.  After it was finished I could distinctively hear a woman behind me say:  "Who are they trying to kid?  Woody Allen is a more convincing karate badass than Damon will ever be.  That movie is going ot suck!"  Gauging by the laughter I'd say half of the packed theater agreed with her.

Someone else in the theater was laughing so hard that my pal asked me if Bourne Identity was a "comedy."  I told them the Summer spy comedy movie would be Affleck's "The Sum of All Fears."

I will be the first to Admit that Good Will Hunting was a gem of a movie. But they played New England losers, the kind of roles they should stick to.

It just doesn't  work when their dopey asses leave the slums.

They should do a a black comedy in which they are a couple of mildly retarded neighborhood weirdos who are trying to plan a bank heist. That is more their cup of tea.

To hell with all you simple minded bastards.  I am so sick and tired of hearing militant, purist comic book fans bitching about comic book movies.  The way some of you ungratefull jackasses talk, your lucky anyone would want to make or be in a comic book movie these days.  EVERYONE complains about the casting choice they make for these movies ,and in the end, whoever they end up casting as the main character usually proves everyone wrong.  Look at Hugh Jackman in X-Men, or Micheal Keaton in Batman.  I admit, Affleck wouldn't have been my first choice for DD either, but anyone who says that he can't act is an idiot, and Im willing to at least give him a chance.  You retards talk about hating his guts like you know him personally. Do you!? You are all hatefull dumbasses who don't deserve to see this movie when it comes out.

THANK YOU! Finally someone with a heart.  I own the DD graphic novel with the Ben Affleck introduction to which you refered.  Theres no doubt in my mind that he is a true DD fan.  Goddamnit, have some faith people!  This is the same sh@# that happens every time a knew comic book movie is made!

What the hell would females know about action comic book superheroes anyways, the only reason they would watch DD is to see Ben Affleck in tights. Do women read comic books anyway? The majority of them could care less.

Most of the comments on this page are missing the point. While I am not sure about the casting decision I sure understand it. Affleck gives the movie guaranteed bankability. Regretably for all the purists out there DD is not as popular as Spidey or Batman therefore they need a hook. While am not a huge Affleck fan I do recognise he has come a long way in the past few years and in a lot of circles he is hugely popular. Who mentioned Baldwin or Ford? Sorry guys maybe 10 years ago I would have voted for either one but not today.  I for one am going to see the movie and start judging the decisions afterwards. The potential is huge!
