Rumours of More Super Hero Films

After the success of X-Men, the recent Blade 2 and all the expectations around Spider-man, here goes another comic adaptations to big screen. Just a buzz?

The Argentinean fan page www.canaltrans.com shows more news about comic book heroes becoming celluloid characters. For non Spanish readers, here's the low down on the rumours (between parenthesis are my comments):

Fantastic four: It'll be shoot by Fox this year, with a 200 hundred millions budget, starring George Clooney as Mr.Fantastic (no FX needed for the white hair), Cameron Diaz as Invisible Woman, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Thing and James Van der Beek (yes, Dawson) as the
Human Torch. Raja Gosnell will be the director (Home Alone 3, Never been kissed), Chris Columbus the producer (Bicentennial Man, Stepmom) and Sam Hamm the writer (Batman). No news about who's gonna play Dr.Doom.

Superman: thumbs down for director Tim Burton and Nic Cage as the man of steel, but Richard Donner is trying to make a crossover with him and Batman (too much).

Wonder Woman: Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas or our girl next door, Sandra Bullock.

Catwoman: Michelle Pfeiffer (of course).

Plastic Man: the Wachzowsky brothers behind, Jim Carrey (he's truly plastic) on screen.

Captain America: Tom Cruise (what about the hair?).

That's all folks, but PLEASE post if you've heard something more.

Editor: Mad props in the direction of Skullfire! Remember you too can submit a story to post!

For you Spanish readers here's the source.

dodgey info i think.   > reply

I am a real fan of comic book heroes and am extremely glad that all comic books are coming to life but I really hope they dont put that fag Tom Cruise as captain America.  CA is already gay enough but Cruise will just make him more of a loser.
I think this information is a bit dodgey because Im sure I heard somewhere that Liv Tyler was playing Wonder Woman, which she would be perfect for and that Ashley Judd was going to play Catwoman which she would also be purrrfect for.
Cant wait for Daredevil too, Affleck would be a good resemblence to DD but he never really pulls off any of his roles, I think he is a bit of a sh*tty actor.
Also havent heard much on GhostRider lately, is that ugly, superhero wannabe Nick Cage still doing the part?

I'm a fan too, just wanted to share an info that english speakers probably won't see...
Anyway, I've heard once on E! Entertainment that the incoming "Hulk" for 2003 will be with Eric Bana as the Green Guy, Nick Nolte as General Ross and Jennifer Connelly (I suppose as Betty, but it could be as cousin Jennifer too) with the direction of Ang Lee ("Crouching tiger, hidden dragon") but nothing about who's gonna be Banner. Can't think of Ashley Judd as Catwoman, since Michelle's great play on the 2nd Batman, but I saw that Sandra Bullock is the first choice.
For Daredevil, Affleck is an idiot, can't see him as a blind lawyer (no pun intended) altough he could fit in a spandex...
Last but not least, I remember something from Joblo.com a month ago, saying that there wasn't any news about Ghost Rider.

Cap is the least gay hero by far of the thread posted by Skullfire. A patriot, and veteran of WWII that actually follows the law, has no powers, and rides a kick ass bike? He's the coolest by far, an adaptation with Tom Cruise or Val Kilmer would be awesome. As far as DD goes, I'd opt for James Spader, Val Kilmer, or Keifer Sutherland, and Sam Elliot as Stick. Both movies have a lot of potential.

Captain America is anything but gay, and in "gay", I imagine you mean: lame. Lame characters are Wolverine, Conan, Punisher, and any chacter that just f*cks people up, talk about boring!

Captain America is first of all brillantly handsome, he's a bad ass, but does have his morals ( a lost code of chivalry), he fights with a Sheild, which is super cool, and would translate amazingly onto the big screen, and the way he speaks...ooohhh...I feel faint. A womans dream.

Muscles, blue eyes, blond hair and 6'11' adds something to a woman's dream, right? Anyway, anything should be better than the last Cap movie. Also, they should make another (this time good) Punisher movie, or one for Wolverine, not great characters but both too commercials.

This is the gayest AND lamest thread.

Then what are you doing here?

RE: ...and now the news.   > reply

Captain America is gay.  He has got to be the most boring hero there is, especially because he is so patriotic, and lets face it Americans are nothing like the good natured, heroic, law abiding citizen he is.  Wolverine and Punisher are more like the real, gritty hero I want to see, they have limited powers but use them to the fullest.  Wolverine with claws and fast healing and Punisher with pure Vengeance and fury,  now that is more appealing than a fag in tights like Captain America.
And who the f*ck said Keifer Sutherland should be Daredevil?  Now that would be a joke.
By the way, I thought Eric Bana was playing Bruce Banner and Hulk, with the help of CG.

Posted by Skullfire (hulacete@ubbi.com) on April 7, 2002 9:17 AM

CGI's Hulk could be a screw if they don't make him perfect. And Kieffer Sutherland has more resemblance with Matt Murdock than Ben Affleck, you gotta admit that.
Cap isn't gay, just a hero character from WWII, a time when all heroes used underwear   over the pants (the only one justified was Namor) but it's true he's not like the true citizens; but Wolverine real? Even his personality... and also the Punisher would be locked in.

Skully,

Unless u can say that u know all 250 million Americans, then making that judgement makes you flat out prejudice, by the way, how long have you lived here in the USA, I imagine you have lived here a while since you speak as if you know us and our country so well.

Verno, you're new to this site that is obvious.  I'll be glad to fill you in.

Skully is Argentinian and has a MAJOR chip on his shoulder regarding Americans.  But at best, he is amusing and at worse, interesting in his delusions of granduer--like myself.

Think of him this way:  Skully's like that militant foreign exchange student in high school who believes his country is superior but comes here for the opportunities that his country can't/won't afford him.  So we humor him and move on to the next topic.

So sign up and stick around.  This site is has some of the most interesing trolls than any other URL on the web.  And by the way, click some banner ads on the way out you cheap bastard!

I'm supporting the opinion of another random shemp who wrote this up: "He has got to be the most boring hero there is, especially because he is so patriotic, and lets face it Americans are nothing like the good natured, heroic, law abiding citizen he is" Check it out. Also, I can't believe that you're so naive to think that all US citizens are Captain America. Some are good, some others not, like all humans; we're just comparing the grounds on what superheroes are based on.

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

Posted by Skullfire (hulacete@ubbi.com) on April 8, 2002 1:39 PM

Dear PT:

First of all, I was thinking in a joke like "of course you're glad to fill in every new guy" but no, that wasn't a good one.
Then I realize you didn't get that if I have those "delusions of granduer" I wouldn't came here to discuss you people, because I'm so great and so on.
After that, I tried to understand yourself: how could you think that I'm a foreign exchange student who thinks is country is superior? Although it's true that Argentina doesn't give any opportunities (and that's why I never was an exchange student, cause I couldn't get enough money from my job, an US company that exploits workers like every big multi-national in a third world country to then donate money to charity and feel good with themselves) now I'm not in high school, I'm in a poor Buenos Aires'university studying sociology, which means I'm not in high school anymore.
So, the only reason I could think for your conclussions abou me was that you're using prejudice too, looking from your rich country with strong (as in "strength to impose unfairly to others") culture to other nationalities saying "nice little monkeys" and humor them.
But, what I think you're not getting is that the powerful people (the only ones who deserves the first word of your nick, with no real nationality but money) who doesn't allow my country to have some opportunities, and probably doesn't allow you either to have a better life (not saying that the actual is bad) thought "cute little sheeps" of you too (excuse me if you're really a Bill Gates or something) and also humor yourself.
In the end, I realize that I was writing too many stupidities and jumping into conclussions, so I clicked submit and get lost.

Have you ever been to the USA Skullfire?

It's just that you make a lot of accusations, and obviously they can't all be based on what you've read in papers or whatever. I certainly do not make opinions on other countries on anything other than my visits to those places. Also, I grew up on the South side of Chicago in what a few folks would call a "Ghetto". That did not stop me from becoming wealthy, and living a rich life, and although I'm the one that spent close to 22 years working 7 days a week, I owe it all to my country for affording me the freedom to do so, and the safety to conduct it in. I'm well aware that we are thought of as the "Great Satan" in some parts of the world, but before making any sort of opinion, I would suggest coming here and looking around first, it's a wonderful place, and most of us are good people that want only the best for our families; including the freedom that we appreciate every single day.

tiny, powertrip, homer you can all suck r ass! The usa is a bomb making factory and the very fact that you do not share your wealth with countries like argentina, china, and cuba just shows how selfish and backwards you really are. how r the rest of us supposed to get a head in life, if you do not help others that want to get a head?  skullfire is right on the money, and u poor fools are being told what to think, say, write, and feel, your under mind control and you don't even know it. your all sad and feeble, someday soon china will be a super power and we will help the unde4r nopurished countries, unlike you selfish scum.

Hiiiyyyyaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

But then again, I guess you didn't visit another places too, to see how bad some people live. Cause there's poors in USA, right?
Anyway, you didn't read what I posted. I said that there's good and bad people everywhere, but you can't think all of you people are Captain America, so good and so righteous. That attitude f*cks the world sometimes, when more than humble people have it.
Think in the others who doesn't have a great job or a wealthy life, and watch carefully how is the US influence in every case.

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

I think what he meant was that, anyone can get a head in life if they are willing to work hard and make sacrifices. I visited Bolivia years ago, and watched first hand all the squalor and the very poor, but to tell you the truth, they all stopped working around 4:00 PM, so what did they expect?  If one wants to get a head, then you must make those sacrifices, work harder than anyone else. That's the American way, and it's why we are so prosperous.

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

Why do you clowns continue to debate with this guy?   The question was, have you visited the US?, and his answer was "no".

So obviously this guy has been talking out of his ass the whole friggin time. End of thread.

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

I have been all over the globe Skullfire, and I don't form an opinion about a place until I see it for myself.

RE: Superbuzz   > reply

Posted by Skullfire (hulacete@ubbi.com) on April 9, 2002 5:32 PM

I couldn't tell about Bolivia (all their hard workers are in Argentina), but I think that it's not only the sweat of US people who made that country big.
And it's not America vs Argentina, cause America is a continent where Argentina is; maybe you're talking of US against Afghanistan or something like that.
About the flame wars, I hate when the topic gets political: I just supported someone elses opinion of US citizens not being equal to Captain America, but that doesn't minimize their personal virtues of values, just doesn't make them greater as you think. I read comics, don't fall for it.
Anyway, Red, good to have you back, some insults are needed time to time. How was the Big Black-Latin-Gay-Jew-Woman Massacre? Did you remember all your partners from KKK Jr.?

Ive been to the USA and it was a pretty cool place if you minus the homeboys trying to mug you and kill each other, or even the students bringing guns to school to play cops and robbers or just your average drug addict trying to suck your d1ck for a fix.  Its just like every other place in the world, only worse.
End of story.
