Cant wait for this, this is going to be awesome. They should turn more video games into movies, they already come with a better story than most movies, they already have a huge following and are goldmines of originality.
As long as Hollywood doesnt f*ck them up like they did with Streetfighter (what a pathetic attempt to bring to life one of the worlds most popular video games). I mean they didnt stick to any of the original story, made the characters look like pussy's and totally Americanised and f*cked up an awesome Japanese legend. I mean putting Van Damme as Guile, a f*cking Redneck Soldier with a French accent? At least Manga made up for it in their animated version, just the way it should have been. I think Hollywood are learning now though with movies like tomb Raider. I hope that some rich producer in Hollywood gets the balls to bring to life games like Unreal and Quake, that would be the sh*t!!!!

The story in the Streetfighter video game was basically that people fight each other until there's a winner. Not exactly 'The Godfather' material, is it. There are some games out there that have plots that could translate to movies, for instance Tomb Raider is basically Indiana Jones with a girl but unfortunatly they just made it completly crap.

Are you serious? Do you know the Streetfighter story at all? Its about Ryu and Ken, 2 long time martial arts brothers who are so powerful they are considered the best fighters in the world. Ken is fiery and aggressive and Ryu is reserved and disciplined, the story unfolds to who will be number 1. Its actually deeper than Hollywood could understand thats why they f*cked it up.
If you ever saw the Manga cartoon you will know the idea behind it. It aint no Godfather but I dont think it was trying to be. Thats why we have movie 'genres' so we shouldnt really compare.
I dont think Tomb Raider was trying to be Godfather either. Lets face it they are games, if you dont play them then you probably wont understand them. I dont think they are going for any oscars I think they just want to entertain and make money :)

The Manga cartoon was one thing (which I have seen by the way) but in the actaul GAME all you did was have about a dozen characters and they fought each other. Films always suffer when you have about 12 leading characters. And Tomb Raider was definately crap, I mean why do we need to see a long winded sequence showing Lara driving her motor bike through London, it's not like it's a chase sequence or anything it's just the director trying to make it look exciting somehow.

i do agree with this movie they have done good by the looks of the trailer but i,ve checked out the movie site and they have,nt used any original names for the cast i mean jill valentine is,nt even in it and they have the chick called rain excuse me but i don,t remember a person called rain in the game nor do i remember a women called alice in the lead part the site is under sony if ya want to check it out. Im sure it will be an ok movie i hope it,s nothing like the street fighter movie but i still think they could have done more to sticking to the game i mean they have the licker as the main baddie monster and they wer,nmt even in the mansion in the game and the tyrant monster isn,t even in it and he was a big part of the original first episode of the game and the original story so that bothers me a bit but i,ll watch it and see what it,as like if it,s good i hope they do another closer to the original story of the game i mean that is one of the aspects that made this such a good game and series thats why i hope they have,nt gone of the story to much i guess well have to see top marks on who they got to play the lead parts though as long as they can act them but as i said i,ve viwed a few sites and they do seem to have gone of the story some what but if the actions good and the plots still as good as the original then this should prove to be a great movie with more in the series to follow

i'm a big fan of re... i've seen the trailer to the first one. i think it will be a good movie..BUT, from what i've seen and read, the licker is the bad guy.. he wasnt' in the first one, for anybody who's played the game, and if the tyrant had been added and the hunter's too.. which probably wont be in it, holy sh*t it would of been the movie of the year. too bad they can't stick to the game the game itself was awesome for it's time. Now if they make a 2nd one and base it on re2, and actually stick the story line (the second is and will always be the best game in the world) it will be a nice long movie that will break records. the 2nd one had so much and it was played out very well. But to say that i''m not going to like this one, well i'll be the judge of that.. sh*t the movie was supposed to be out 2 or 3 years ago. comon. and it was supposed to be based on the 2nd one anyway. anyway, i'll email the guy that made this movie and tell him that if he plays the second one and sticks to the plot of the second one.. cause they could actaully do that, it would f*ckin rule.. anybody who played the second one would agree with me.. i'll make him play the damn thing.

i do think this kid is right when he says thay should stick to the plot of the game a little better. but they might not be making the movie from one of the games,i mean really if they did all of the plot it would be longer than the lord of the rings. they might be making it original not entirerly like the game their for they need to have new charecters, they still have the zombies and stuff.i hope you can see my point & i will make sure to look at that trailer.

I think all you guys must not have a clue. If you would have read one of the video game magazines they had an in depth interview with Paul Anderson the director. The movie is supposed to be a prequel to the first game. It is suppossed to explain why monsters got into the mansion and all that shizzzzzzatch

You have a piont abotu it, but did you also know that they put all 4 parts in the movie?
For example: In Code Veronica, the "Queen Red Ant" is actually Alexia and most of the puzzels have somthing to do with the Queen Red Ant. They also use the trains in part 2 and in Nemesis.
In this case I'm going to watch the movie and I'm am also going to try to remake this horrible disaster!!

I think the resident evil movie is going to be cool if they had other monsters like the hunter,snake,and even the Tryant. When I saw the trailer all i saw was zombies zombie dog and licker. Is that all the monsters in the movie?? there is only three types of monsters in the game there was like about 10 diffrent kinds of monsters. I hope this movie will turn out good

well i have the trailor for the movie downloaded and i must say, as a stand alone it might actually do well as a movie, on the other hand i do think they should have stuck to the story a little better, seeing a tyrant on the big screen would have been f*ckin awesome. the licker looks really good, although i heard he mutates. if that is true i'm gonna puke. anyway, the biggest thing i can see wrong with the movie is the zombies...i mean have you seen them? they don't have any skin missing, blue eyes, and some of them are just blue, who knows, maybe they'll be better when the movie is released. Most video game movies are pretty horrible, the only one i liked was mortal kombat, but of course they had to screw that up with the making of the second mortal kombat movie. so i'm gonna go see the resident evil movie, and if i come out with a smile, i'll report it, if i come out feeling like i just went 15 rounds with a semi, i'll report that too.

the reason why the characters in resident evil weren't in the movie was because then some of the characters in the movie couldn't die. i mean come on!!! we wouldn't want chris or jill to die! that's why new characters were created! plus it tells the whole story and plus a new one to scare the sh*t out of us! but remember true resident evil fans just expect alot of zombie killings, jumping dogs, and etc etc. plus the licker from part 2 of resident evil will definitly add a plus to the movie!!!!! can't wait to watch it!!!!!!!

I just got back fromt hte theater. It was amazing. It was better than the games. It was better than i ever imagined it. And the ending....that endings creepy and mind boggling. Don't judge it til you see it, YOU WILL LIKE IT!

The movie happens before STARS sends in Bravo or Alpha team in the game. That is why there are none of the same characters. I have heard bad reviews of this movie, which is BS, even if you are not an RE freak you would still like it. The movie was excellent.

i agree streetfighter licked ass, the cartoon awesome, quake and unreal, could be a possibility but to repeditive.
but on outherhand resident evil kicked ass. they stuck with the story line the best that they could. umbrella, zombies, dogs, but they should'ev had the tyrant rather than the licker. slim down on the zombies(just a little) but have what happend at the end of the first game where they found room in the underground facility where the tyrant was kepted and have it bust out, than have the sh*t hit the fan.
but in my eyes, ad on a extra 25-30 minutes, and throw in wesker.
but hey thats my opinion and if the movie dose good, make a sequel. if you have seen you'll know what i meen

I read an article about Resident Evil, and the only reason that the director didn't use the real names of the characters in the games is because if they used those names, the game fans would know who would live, and who would die. They wanted to make it so that it was unsure about who lives during the movie. Also, i read that Resident Evi: Nemisis is currently in the process of being made into the next Resident Evil movie!!

Resident Evil The Movie is a prequel to all the games. It all ties in: The Hive is part of the mansion, that is where the zombies were created. The character who's arm is lacerated by the Licker mutates and becomes Nemesis. And if I am correct, Alice is the main villian of Code Veronica.

don't be to hasty about this, when you think about it, it all makes sense to have a completely different story, for 1) it could be the original beginnings of the game itself, it shows how it all started, 2) and tomb raider didnt have any game plot except her and her guns, well and venice too... 3) don't you think it would be boring if they adapted the idea of the game which every fan knows about and will judge quite harsh on, it just ain't fair. Give this a break, in all as a movie it looks exceptional good for such a small budget.

I disagree, i think super mario the movie was absolute pants, mortal kombat was great and so was its sequel, but there is also tomb raider which is outstandingly good. and resident evil is now a good contender to be the next computer game turn movie adaption.

The movie to me lived up to everything i wanted. It covered all the basis of Resident Evil that i wanted to see. And for the most part having Milla jovovich made everything live up to it`s potential even in that little nipple showing medical outfit

alright so i saw the movie and i have to say, it pretty much lived up to the hipe. the zombies looked pretty good, and to my surprise, none of them were blue. the only things i could find wrong with the movie were as follows: too short, not scary enough, and for god sakes they needed more monsters. the monsters thing really bugged me throughout the movie. all i saw were dogs, zombies, and a licker...good for a first movie but they could have done better...like i mean they should have had a spider, hunter, or chimera. i mean they didn't even have the freakin crows comin down and attackin people...even though the movie was set underground :) anyway, on a scale of 1-10 i give it a 6, lots of action, not enough monsters, and not scary enough

I know I'm a little late to reply to this comment, but why the hell do the characters have to have the same names as those in the game?? What they're doing is creating almost a new game just making a movie. The movie is just BASED on the plot of the Resident Evil game series (not to mention the fact that there are multiple R.E. games in which there are different characters-including guys.) i mean, come on you all. Inmy experience movies based on games have been better when they strayed from the uptight plot of the game. Just stick with the main thing (if I remember correctly Umbrella.) So like, calm down people. The movie was good. Milla was hot. Michelle was saucey. Let's just leave it at that. Go see the movie, have a good time, stop being so critical, and get some human contact!!! lol. j/k. But seriously. Don't be like the creaters of the Tomb Raider movie! Have some common sense!

In respones to some earlyer comments about the cast being completely new and not sticking to the jill valentine, Chris/Claire Redfeild, Leon s. Kenndy etc cast. If any of there charaters were to be used in the movies it would spoil things, you'd be sat there knowing that they were going to survive because you've seen them in later games. I think its a very good idea that for the movie new charaters are added. By the way Resident Evil - Code Veronica why did they mess with the wesker plot? I agree seeing tyrant on the big screen would have been kool, Nemisis would have been damb scary. I havent been able to see any trailors, or hear anything about the movie other than it's a res! I hope the Movie and the Games seem similar, but a little change would be good, otherwise you know what's going to happene and it becomes boring.

I saw RE and honestly thought it was great, seeing as it was a prequel to the first RE game, it set up the plot to the first RE very very well. I honestly though thsi movie was far better than blade 2, and should have gotten much better reviews. The way the directors set it up for a sequel was great, i can't wait for the next one to come out. lata

first of all, code veronica had the best story, it was long and it felt like the game was never going to end, which rocked! r.e. one had the hardest f*ckers though. the hunters of the original were the hardest bastards to kill. also, r.e. two had the most mother f-ers, the only catch to that game though was that the mother f-ers were easier to kill.

Man, I watched the Resident Evil movie and it was bitchin'! It kicked ass!
Anyway, I heard they were doing a sequel. It's called
Resident Evil: Nemesis.
That guy that gets his arm scratched by LIKCER is turned into NEMESIS.
I can't wait for the sequel, I hope it's better than the first one.
Anyway, back to the Resident Evil movie. I would give the movie an 8/10. Also, I think the giant spider should have been in the film, and I think The Tyrant should have been in it aswell. But anyway, we'll have more surprises in the sequel that they are making.

I saw Resident Evil by downloading it on my computer for a week and I think it was more than worth it! I'm sick of people saying the problem with the movie was the zombies, they didn't look as torn up as they should've. First of all the reason they turned into zombies is because the virus got in the air, they didn't get torn up or ripped apart did they? NO! No one knows what a real zombie looks like anyways so until you see one shut up and leave the movie alone!

ok listen did most of you complaining about the movie actually see it. If they did follow the game plot to a T, it would take up so much time. Plus changing game plots to movies have been so unsuccessful. I ve played and beaten every Resident Evil game to date ecept Resident Evil Zero and all i can say is "The Movie Kicked Serious Ass"

I think they changed Resident evils script to add more depth. Like Alice being a trator to umbrella and such. They did a pretty good job but all i wanna know is wheres the sequal? They do this all the time. Lord of the rings but no hobbit? i mean come on. if youre gonna make a movie you better put all the pieces in there and not just what suits your fancy. I wnat details, back ground and a finale. Alice just standing in a destroyed raccoon city street is no ending. If youre gonna cliff hang me you damn well better finish the story
