Hanks To Be Awarded Life Achievement Award

The American Film Institute has announced that it will be awarding Tom Hanks with it's 30th "Life Achievement Award". At 45 years old, Hanks will become the youngest recipient ever to be lauded by AFI with the careerlong honor followed by Steven Speilberg, who was 49 when he received the award in 1995.

"Tom Hanks is American film's Everyman for a new generation," AFI board of trustees chairman Howard Stringer said. "It is fitting that he receive the 30th AFI Life Achievement Award from the nation's pre-eminent cultural arts organization as his talent and commitment to his craft is only matched by his great respect for and understanding of American history."

The 2001 Life Achievement Award was presented to Barbra Streisand, who became the first female director to be honored with the award. Previous winners include Harrison Ford, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson, Elizabeth Taylor, Sidney Poitier, Gregory Peck, Barbara Stanwyck, Fred Astaire, James Stewart, Alfred Hitchcock, Bette Davis, Orson Welles, James Cagney and John Ford.

Tom Hanks can be seen in theatres early next year in Sam Mendes' ("American Beauty") ?new Chicago Gangland movie "The Road to Perdition".

Be happy for Tom!

Good for Hanks, but now there is nowhere to go but down:  Turner & Hooch 2, Dragnet 2, Joe vs. the Volcano 2.  And of course, the inevitable big screen adaptation of "Bosom Buddies" can't be too far off either.

Oh Powertrip, read the article.  "Commitment to American history"--they're talking about the Apollo 13 and "Band of Brothers" mini-series that spun off from his acting work in "Apollo 13" and "Saving Private Ryan."  "BOB" is kicking butt this fall in ratings.

Any of you see "Punchline," one of my favorite early Hanks films, before he had the clout to refuse "pop" roles in favor of the serious roles it appears he prefers and excells at?  Also starring Sally Fields and John Goodman, this movie broke the Tom Hanks-as-comedian barrier for me.  As with Robin Williams, Hollywood had been slow to grant Hanks the opportunity to be anything but a cut-up in a family film.

Don't judge a struggling actor by what he did, judge him by what he's done lately, and lately Hanks has been blazing hot with phenomenal success, which makes all the big heads warm and fuzzy.

In times of horror wether it be terrorist attacks or an orgy of ass slurping, Fred Hater will be there to clear the air.

Look at his expression in that photo! Maybe he's just been told he has to do another 'Splash' movie and there's no way he can get out of it.

I love to fart! I love sniffing up the sweet sweet essence of my own body. Farting in the bath is great too because I love trapping the bubbles under my legs and then letting them burst on the surface. When I'm alone I like to cup my farts in my hands and sniff them all up in one go, sometimes they smell of potatoes and sometimes of sprouts, if I'm really gassy I can even produce a really eggy one that even I find bad. Once, after eating a whole pizza I was farting pizza smells all night! I love the feeling when I fart and I love the smell of my farts but I don't like it when other people fart, then it just smells disgusting. Sometimes, though, when I'm really horny I fantasize about a real sexy girl farting in my face. Mmmmmmmmmmm that smells goood.

Tom you really deserve it.  It is really pleasing to watch a person grow with his talent.  You were destined to become larger than life because of the size of your heart.
