Xena Reveals Some X-Files Secrets

(SCI FI Wire) Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless, who appears in the two-part season premiere of The X-Files, revealed a few tidbits about her top-secret role to free-lance genre columnist Ian Spelling. The X-Files kicks off its ninth season on Nov. 4 with the episode "Nothing Important Happened Today."

"My character, Shannon McMahon, re-enters [Agent John] Doggett's life," Lawless told Spelling by telephone from her home in Auckland, New Zealand. "They used to be in the military together--in my backstory, they fought in Beirut--and now she's causing a great deal of trouble. You don't know if she's good, and you don't know if she's bad. She seems to be both things at once."

Lawless added that McMahon bears tidings for Scully's baby. "And I spent half my time naked," she said. "Why not, if it looks good onscreen? Of course, you don't see anything, except my well-endowed body double. Let's just say the character's a bit of a water baby, a water babe. She's a nymph."

But Lawless declined to say more. "I feel like [X-Files creator] Chris Carter will come after me, and I'll end up with bloody cement boots on my feet at the bottom of the ocean if I tell you too much."

You schmucks don't know a good show until it's cancelled, then you love it in syndication.  You'll miss this show when it's gone

This show has been on way too long, I don't think most fans are willing to follow even a good show more than 7 years (max). Anything more is too much of a commitment...after all most marriages don't last that long. The saving grace of the X-files though is that the writing is consistently (for most part) very good. That's why this show has lasted way beyond the shelf life of consumer taste. The only problem is no one wants to (follow) or "stay in bed"  that long with any show, even a good one.

Say Good night Gracie!
Why can't they just let it go?  "Mulder & Scully" are some what of a couple now.  Mulder is not looking for his sister any more.  They have a child, can't he ( Chris Carter ) just let them live happliy ever after?  Write a new show Chris!  This one is done!

Although I will watch it...my money is on this being the last season.  Speaking as a fan, "please wrap it up".

Keeping the plot stringing along with the major antagonist dead, and half of the protag-duo "out of the picture", would be like Ringo Star tring to keep the Beatles tour going without half of the band.
Could you imagine how bad that would be?

Well well, I have to disagree with you.  Most reasons why a show ends is because a actor doesn't want to do it anymore.  Take Xena for example, the show was in it's peek and Lucy L. didn't want to do another season so the show was cancelled.  There have been some shows that are running longer than 10 years and are showing no signs of quiting.  Most (except the Simpsons) have character changes.  I think that is the secret of a lasting show.  Sure some fans would stop watching after a actor would leave, but others jump on the bandwagon though too. Alot has to do with the writers in general.  If they fail to make great stories that too can cause a problem in a show lasting.  But take Xena again and in the 4th season, they had a whole new batch of writers and the show went downhill.  Come back at season 5 and they were able to bring the show back to life.  Just because the X-Files (I have watched maybe 3 eps a year) are slumping at the moment, doesn't mean they can't pick it back up.  With the addition of Lucy in the show, I will be watching the show.  So you can say, that I am one of those that will be jumping on the bandwagon.

I think the X-Files have gotten better every year. I admit, losing Krychek and obviously cutting Mulder's screentime dramatically wil hurt the show(i still think he'll pop on every now and then), this is just gonna be a test of the show's strength. I just hope it's good.
