Released in 1982, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial not only raked in gobs of cash, but it gave Americans little aliens that we could love. Now the touchstone of family feel good cinema is slated for re-release in March, 2002.
Recently, Creators.com reported that Dee Wallace-Stone, who played Mary, the kids mom, has been called in to change a line in the upcoming re-release.
Stone stated, "There was some reference to one of the Halloween characters in the film looking like a terrorist, so we're going in to reloop that line".
Ms. Stone has already been booked for several major publicity events (eg. "Oprah") to promote the re-release. Besides redubbing movie text, Ms. Stone also enjoys a career as a professional motivational/keynote speaker.
Thanks to Moviehole and Dark Horizons for the re-release low down.

Red:
I agree with 8/10th's of your list, but Billy Cruppup? That guy is an awesome actor!
Besides "Almost Famous", and "Hi Lo Country", he's a really well established stage actor. He won some big Broadway award a couple years back. I think your way off the mark there. Here's mine (Feel free to critisize)
1. James Van Der Beek
2. Ben Affleck
3. Marky Mark
4. Hugh Grant
5. Keifer Sutherland
6. Heath Ledger
7. Paul Walker
8. Rachel Leigh Cook
9. Sharon Stone
10. Will Smith

I think all this re-doing will cease in about 12 months. We are living in an awkward time, and as a result the marketing folks have a serious case of the jitters, but it will pass. As far as my patriotism is concerned, I don't care what any of you think of me, I'm the fuking man.

Tiny, I hope your right about the re-doing thing.
By the way, God has called to inform me that you are not licensed to use the line, "I'm the fuking man!" or any variation there of.
He says that line has been soley reserved for me.

Better take the World Trade Center out of King Kong (1977) too, oh and get rid of Delta Force altogether (OK, so that's not a bad Idea).
Are we going to go and reloop every line that may be misconstrued? The movie was made almost 20 years before these jagoffs made their call-ahead seating arrangements for the Hitler express to hell, and yet we find it too unbearable now?
I hate to say it...but those cowards have had some small successes with their attack. We (not we as in you and me, we as in the dumbasses who fear anything that may be construed as insensitive) have changed our lives, and thus we give them the success, that the bravery of Firefighters and Police Officers and even some of our so-called "leaders" had stolen from the ignorant coward pukes who did this.
Of course that is just my opinion, I couldn't be wrong.

Shemp,
you are absolutely right. People today are so paranoid about everything. ET was made years ago. It has never offended anyone up until now, so whay chaneg it? By the way, if you havent seen ET, I suggest you should. That is if you like movies. Think of it as a classic. It is poorly done in today's standards, but well done for back then.
