FilmInk magazine recently caught up with Director Joel Schumacher (Tigerland, St. Elmo's Fire, Flatliners) and asked him about his future plans. Here is a portion of the interview.
Filmink: "What about those Britney Spears in 'The Lost Boys' sequel rumors?"
JS: "I don't know. I'm not directing it, so the director will choose. If she can act, she might be in it. It's not got much to do with me. I saw a 70mm print of 'The Lost Boys' at a film festival and it's very exciting in a visual way. That film was a real breakthrough for me, but I still hope to make my best".
Schumacher confirmed the sequel is greenlighted with him as executive producer.

If she can act? This kind of little detail didn't stop her from singing!
Then again, if Marky Mark can do it....
Well it would serve her right to debut in a sequel, we all know how much better the sequel always is; maybe they'll have a big pierside dance number !!

I'd rather see her than Marky Mark, if it's an R rating, then, I'd even watch it in the theatre. To keep it in the female vampire mold, they could have a liquor license scene with her and Rose McGown, or Jennifer Hewitt, in which case I'd gladly shell out a few bucks for this sequel.

Oh yeah!
I agree whole heartedly with you AMERICAN, which is something I thought I would never do. Britney with Love Hewit would make a great little picture regardless of the budget or anything else. The rest of the "Lost" could be: Mandy Moore, Karen McDougal, Angie Sehorn, and Tylene Buck. That would make a watchable sequel. There shouldn't be one man in the entire movie, and of course they should all get oily and freindly. I think we've got something here, can anyone say: Movie of the Year!

Gotta agree with ya on that one, she's ("Dark Angel") got the looks and some tallent to boot. I'm pretty much bored of the whole Brittney Spears thing personally, sure she's sexy, but we could use some brains in our pop culture scene.
Now if Brittney was doing a porno...

batman and robin was atrocious, a total waste of celluloid, but, if they do make it,i hope they make a true film, not a hollywood impersonation of a movie, no matter who is in it, and yes, brittney is sexy, but can she act?

Hmmmm a waste of space huh. Lets have a history lesson wanker. Veitnam, helicopters lost by Aussies=1
helicopters lost by Americans= A lot.
Look I know not all Americans are total losers like you, but if you lived in my town with an attitude like that, then even the 3500 Americans here would kick your loser ass

Relax Bex. Fred wouldn't sign an entry like that--he has the ability, intelligence and opposable digits to actually know how to sign on (unlike Red and Tiny.)
As for your comments lately, you seem to pass mustard. You're tougher to digest than Vegemite, and Foster's for movie fan. I like your style (kiss, kiss). You can try to take the wind out of our sails anytime

OK.I think the best idea would be to cast a few stars, like Katie Holmes and Sarah Michelle Gellar. But to keep the audience interested before the movie is even out.You should hold an online casting call to cast an unknown as a lead. Then people from all over the USA will definitely want to see it just to see the unknown girl who snagged the part that even they had the chance to get! That would be a big box office hit!!!I also think the cast should be diverse such as African American,Caucasion,Asian, and so forth....Or like have a blonde, brunette, redhead, black hair, something like that! Then there would definitely be something for everyone!

"I also think the cast should be diverse such as African American,Caucasion,Asian, and so forth...." Bleh. That's got all the makings of another crappy sequel. Let's just make sure the girls are hot and run with it.

Have all of u completely lost ur minds?? Britney bloody Spears?? Come on, this notion shud not even be entertained at all. Kieffer Sutherland, one of the most talented actors to be spawned out of the 20th century is to be followed up by someone THAT annoying? If u think she's that sexy, go buy a poster for gods sake, not put her in a sequel to a such a good movie!
I am a female myself, but I am highly dubious about having an all girl cast. There is a reason y the originals were all male, they r simply more convincing and dont make the movie look like a bondage porno.
I really dont think having another 'hip and trendy' vampire movie is what we need. The Lost Boys started the whole 'evil people with great style and taste in decent music' thing so they need a new twist, one a hell of a lot better than replacing the cast with girls to drag in a whole load of horney teenage boys...
I really think they cud make a fantastic film, horror films are churned out to easily nowdays, I just hope they care enough to make a good one :S lol
