Angelina Jolie a UN Ambassador?

Hey, there's nothing like making a celebrity a political figure. Looks like now Angelina Jolie will be United Nations goodwill ambassador next Monday GENEVA (Reuters) - "Tomb Raider" star Angelina Jolie will be named United Nations goodwill ambassador next Monday, the U.N. refugee agency said on Wednesday. The Hollywood bad girl best known for her portrayal of video game action queen Lara Croft has already visited refugee camps in Sierra Leone and Cambodia, where some of the scenes for "Tomb Raider" were shot, and is currently in Pakistan. "She has a genuine interest in refugee issues and she is fantastically popular," said Kris Janowski, spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. "The kind of people who find the U.N. boring -- young people and teenagers who are not interested in refugee issues -- adore Angelina Jolie," he said. Jolie will be formally appointed at the agency's headquarters in Geneva on Monday.

Let's see.  What ARE Jolie's professional qualifications.  In the movies, she's played drug addicts, adulterers, schizophrenics, and femme fatales.  Yep. She's the perfect role model for our refugees.  I bet Soltys has all of her work on video.  Go United Nations!!!

Pay attention shemp.  I won't waste much time on you because you are ignorant (an unregisterd). Reread the commentary then try to use the jelly between your ears this time around.

I am not judging Jolie as a person but indicting the United Nations for their wisdom.  

If Jolie's resume reads like the countries the United Nations is sent to "protect," how is that a positive?  It doesn't inspire me to believe that any good can come of it.  What you think is irrelavent because apparently this is too complex a concept for you to grasp.

You may need a dictionary to decipher some of these multi-syllable words, but trust me you may actually learn something here.

I believe that anything that brings attention to the important issues that many people would prefer to simpily ingore is a great tool.  If it takes a beutiful movie star like Angelina the that much the better for all of us.

You forgot she was also the cop in Bone Collector, but that wouldn't fit in your list of original sins. The point is she's famous and is bringing attention to a sad situation, which many of us are ignorant to.

You are correct about one thing scichick--you are ignorant.  I am not.  Maybe if you read more about real world issues around you instead of watching movies all the time...

So Jolie played a naive cop as a co-star in The Bone Collector.  Storywise they could have put a cardboard cutout in her role and it would have been just as effective.  Afterall it was Denzel, as a quadrapelegic who kicked the killer's ass---or in this case---chewed out his throat.  Her character just convieniently shows up as eye candy.  Whoopee doo!  Where's the sequel?

As for the subject of UN ambassador: Stop voting for your favorite video on TRL and do your homework BEFORE you smart off next time jag off.

if you didn't believe the UN was a joke before then you better start believing it. jolie as an ambassador is a complete joke. what are they trying to convey? are they trying to say its ok to have sex with your brother or maybe they want to promote that its ok to be unfaithful in marriage or maybe or that it is ok to be anti-america? if they have to promote seriously, jolie is a no talent sexual deviant who isn't qualified to babysit the kids that she has now.
