In an interview with Sci Fi Wire, Joel Silver, producer of the two upcoming Matrix sequels, stated that the release of the first sequel, The Matrix Reloaded, likely won't happen until 2003. "It's going to be summer now, summer 2003," Silver said in an interview at the premiere for Osmosis Jones, in which he has a cameo role. But there are also rumors had The Matrix Reloaded opening as soon as Christmas 2002. And as for the release of The Matrix 3, Silver simply said, "You'll see."
Silver assured that the extra time added to the production schedules is simply meant to benefit the quality of both films. "It's just it's an enormous project," Silver said. "It's a staggering project. There's so much dealing with it, it's unbelievable, and they just need time to finish both movies, because we're shooting them as one big movie. It's not back-to-back. It's one movie, so they'll finish shooting it, and then they'll take the time to finish the movies."

come on yu guys..some thinking behing your opinions.
if you didn't like it, say why!!!!
Ok, as for me, not much of a plot, but the effects were the real point, and they didn't disappoint. I think the movie was a good movie for what it was supposed to be. Think! the Matrix wasan't meant to be deep-thinking heavy intellectual sensitive character movie of the year. It was meant to be slick, attention-catching, flashy, with just enough thought not to be insulting, yet satisfyingly empty. and that it is...easy, pretty, the perfect film for the ADHD generation. Comments? Come on, where are Fred and Power Trip to argue?

You must be living under a rock for the past twenty years and not been following technology or you live in some backwoods hillbilly town,
where your wife is also
your sister.
Have a nice day :}

The comments were to 2 dimensional for me to even comment on. I agree with most of your observations, I thought the move was excellent, but I thought it was a rather insightful look at the present human condition. The fact that we are rapidly becoming numbers in a corporate formula.
However, any movie starring Keanu Reeves seems 2D because his acting is so stiff.

my comments, or the shemp's?
hehe, I was being too nice. Insihtful, yes, it is. At times.
But really, the observation that people are numbers and we live in a corporate world is not all that hard to come by. I should think it's pretty obvious. And the movie at times tried really hard to give an ironic or even spiritual bent that just didn't really work.
There's a trend I think, of stating obvious observations in movies and making them seem like original relevations. the unthinking public's being insulted, and they don't even know it.
ps - I agee bout Keanu. but who cares? he's eye-candy, we don't go to see him act. he's (like the Matrix) pretty and empty, that's what he's there for.

I feel that the Wachoski (sic) Brothers made an excellent commentary on our society as it plays out today.
We are consumers, not people. We are demographics, not a democracy.
The Matrix plays to our fears and does and excellent job of couching it into an action movie. The camera angles and cinematography are second to none and really bring Japanese anime style to live action. Look at how much it has influenced movies since it has come out.
As for the acting, everyone else made Keanu look competent and since his character wasn't suppose to know what was going on it just made him look that much more adequate. I almost didn't see the movie in theaters because of him.
If any of this doesn't convince you that The Matrix was a good movie then remember it for it's spin on existensilism, "There is NO spoon." Ciao.

ugh! I gotta wait longer for the sequel?
THe movie was good. Yes there are some parts of the movie that was like, huh and your point is?
But generally it's pretty good. Esp when you're enjoying yourself and percieve it in a different way.

I agree with whoever said the Matrix sucked. It has to be one of the most brainless movies of all time. Anyone who prefers a few explosions, trenchcoats, high body count (of mostly innocent cops doing their duty) to half a brain, would like this POS, swiss cheese plot story. I hurts me when dumbasses say something like "What planet do you live on, the matrix was great in every way". I liked the first 20 mins of the movie. Then all the inconsitencies and all the BS was too much to swallow. I watched the movie trying to see you point of view, now you go and watch it again and try not to get a hardon from all the effects and the "coolness" of it all and spot a few of the MANY major nonsensical inconsistencies.

Yes I do have some information to share. There will be a new actor in the sequels, he will serve to my knowledge as some kind of an oracle, but I don't know if he will replace the lady who had died in the movie or how it will work. But as for who he is, he is unknown as of yet to the public, but this is a clue, that the "Knight" will come out of Dallas. I know that is not much to go on, but you're going to have to keep an eye out for the oracle that is the "Knight".

There is no way you actually understood, or even tried to understand the complexities in this plot. It is religious, political, societal, and a comment on the present state of humanity. This movie used special effects and good looking actors for the "ADHD generation" and then added some true depth to the plot for those of us who want more from a movie. Come on, the idea that the whole world is not really reality but rather a dream...hmmm, sounds Buddhist to me. And Neo could be either Jesus or Buddha, or any other savior. And who can forget the "There is no spoon" line. pick an eastern religion and that can relate. Understand the complexities and you will understand the underlying theme to the movie, and why it was such a huge hit with every age group.

The Matrix has been acclaimed by many critics from all over the world who actually know what they are talking about as being a landmark film in many ways. It is quite possibly the best movie of all time. As for anyone who thinks it was "crap" I have two things to say to any of ye matrix bashers - 1. You know squat about movies and 2. YOU ARE A MUPPET!
