Men At Work II?

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, pro wrestlers Hulk Hogan and Randy Macho Man Savage have signed on to do a sequel to the 1990 bomb "Men At Work". ?Emilio Estevez has agreed to direct once again while brother Charles Sheen and Moshe Diamant, most famous for producing all of the Jean Claude Van Damn action films of the 90's, will offer their services in a producing capacity. ?Sheen who wanted to reprise his role could not do so because of complications with his "Spin City" schedule. ?Estevez on the other had all the time in the world, and he'll not only be helming, but will also take a stab at writing again. ?He wrote the script for the first film, but subsequently hasn't written anything since. ?Diamant, however, has faith in Estevez whose talents he believes go well beyond that of the "Mighty Duck" franchise

Hogan, who was once on top of the wrestling world, is trying to resurrect his "Hollywood" status. ?He will play the softhearted garbage totter James St. James (formerly Estevez's Role) while Savage, who fell off the wrestling map years ago, will take on Sheen's former character Carl Taylor. ?For Hogan who hasn't held a lead role since he starred in the 1993 stinker "Mr. Nanny", the challenge of stepping beyond the ring and back onto the big screen may be more that he can handle. ?Combined with Savage, who has an even less impressive demo reel, production is amazingly still slated for Spring 2002. ?For everyone's sake, lets hope that this project gets held down for the 1-2-3 before it can get off the ground.

There is no end to the Oscar worthy multi talents of Emilio. He should have got the lead roles in Gladiator, Forest Gump, Titanic, and Freejack.

Sounds like a lot of hooey.  I actually love the film, or at least the first half of it.  Full of great one liners..."You're a stupid man, you're a stupid little man!"
However, to team up Hogan and Savage with Emilio for a sequel to a movie that is a cult classic seems a bit of a stretch.

Genius, pure genius.  The casting director should be awarded some sort of medal for this fine work.  This will be the best film since "Suburban Commando"!

Hurrah!

I miss seeing Hulk and Macho on TV every week,so it will be nice to see them in a movie, and Hulk is an alright actor if givin the right role, he and Macho could be very entertaining.

Anyone dumb enough to believe this, deserves to pay the 10$ to go see it in theatres.

Both Estevez and Sheen have PUBLICALLY bashed Men at Work and aren't desperate or imbecilic enough to repeat their failed attempt at humour (Ok...I'll admit it...I enjoyed the movie for what it was.)

This is just pure nonsense, invented by someone who obviously has nothing better to do than invent some idiotic idea.

Just because a movie bombs and you like it, doesn't mean it's a cult classic; I'm yet to see it playing in old movie theatres with everyone in attendence dressed as garbagemen screaming out the lines.

what next? Booker T to play keith richards part. Or maybe the Rock, lol. The Rock is a better actor than hogan or savage.

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by right_hook (No Email) on August 10, 2001 12:16 AM

I loved the firs Men at Work and thought it was damn funny. But Hulk Hogan playing Emilio's part?...I don't know, I just don't see Hulk and Macho fitting into this movie very well other than being able to actually look like garbage men. I watch wrestling but Hulk can act about as good as he can wreslte...which is not very good...and he's only funny when he's playing a big muscle guy in a tutu. And that's because he looks like a jackass.

Spiderman or Men at Work 2?...hmm hard choice there.

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on August 10, 2001 7:04 AM

This is ridiculous. So Hogan and Savage aren't willing to take a pay cut to go back to the WWF, but they're willing to do this? Men At Work 2 will not happen, especially with Hogan and Savage. This was just a joke to see how far a screwed up rumour could go.

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on August 10, 2001 7:22 AM

Booker T would be perfect for the lead role in "Donkey Kong: The Movie"

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on August 10, 2001 7:29 AM

Hogan and Savage???
Don?t allow these two "surfin?-dudes" from a Californian retirement castle to ruin a pretty funny movie from the early nineties by putting a sequal on it! Haven?t the filmmakers learned from catastrophes like Crocodile Dundee 2, Rush Hour 2 or Blues Brothers 2, that a sequal can only work, if the first movie rocks??
Take that project and then WHAM-BAMM and into the trash can with it!!!

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on August 10, 2001 8:07 AM

emilio estevez is the worst actor in the world. why dont they use in the movie the ultimate warrior.

RE: Men At Work II?   > reply

Posted by Numba 1 Stunna (lemon2dogs@aol.com) on August 10, 2001 9:53 AM

You know, its absolutely amazing how dumb some people are to even conceive the idea of such a movie. Maybe they could throw in the Olsen twins as their love interests and find another wrestler to be their superhuman archenemy trying to steal all of the town's garbage. I hear the Ultimate Warrior is looking for work, Maybe Jim Duggan can get in on the action as the 2x4 wielding veteran of the junkyard who shows Hogan and Savage the way of the trashman.

This could be bigger then the Tony Danza show!

I think Hogan is a great actor. That is why he was a geat wrestler. But i think this is pure...bull-sh*t. Hogan and savage should be on WWF even a stupid ass would know that. I do not think this sh*t is real at all. I think there just trying to see who will agree with it. So Hogan can see how many people like him. I love to see Savage and Hogan back in the ring not on a damn movie. Why the hell Ric Flair isn't in it he is a better actor than damn Savage. I mean Savage is a dumb ass cuz he looks good and he has not been in wrestling in years. Yall get your a$$ in the damn ring

What? The Patriot was a good movie and let's just give them a chance, Hogan has done well, well besides the Nanny, and Savage is in the upcoming Spiderman movie so there is a chance it could be good.

Wrestling Planet sucks and so does the movie idea.   > reply

Posted by Twitmare (twitmare@yahoo.com) on August 10, 2001 6:26 PM

They're one of the many hack newsboard sites that has such wonderful feautres as more annoying pop-up ads than some porn sites, Women Of Wrestling galleries (despite some of the women in them aren't even INVOLVED in wrestling), and more speculation/rumor/heresey than actual news on anything.  Hell, the speculation isn't even that intriguing since it's just the same crap nearly every other site produces.

The only value places like Wrestling Planet has is if you want to find out such hardcore journalism news bits as to why Billy Gunn's plane was late so he didn't make it to Raw.  Then you can spank yourself while looking at Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Brittney Spears pics (and we get all know of the great wrestling past those girls have) after you're done finding out such nuggets of joy as the reason Angle won the WCW title was because they're trying to push him.  Now THAT is insight at it's finest!

Of course, for the most part they're just stealing this crap from larger sites, but you get the idea.

As for the movie thing... I'm guessing it's fake, although I wouldn't put it past people attempting to sell something this stupid.  Go watch Freddie got Fingered and tell me this movie isn't possible.

I can't wait for this movie. Hogan was excellent, if not underrated, in Mr. Nanny, and the Macho Man won't disappoint if his performance is anything like the one he gave in the Slim Jim Commercials. This was written about in Revelations as the first sign that the world was ending. At least it'll be a quick death...for their acting careers.

And besides... even when it does suck (and I'm positive it will), I can simply give the movie the MST3k treatment and be more entertaining than the swill on the screen... just like at Battlefield Earth.
