(E!) Curious George, the monkey from the widely popular children's book series, is heading to the silver screen with Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.
It was originally scheduled to be done in a live-action medium, but with the advancements in the CG arena, and the widely successful production of Shrek, Curious George will be all computer generated.
"I tried to lick it as live action then live action with animated, but it's been hard," Brian Grazer, co-founder of Imagine Entertainment, tells the Hollywood Reporter. "George the monkey has to have power and be able to express power and it's difficult to do that with a live-action mix. I have to admit the amazing success of Shrek convinced me that this is the exact way to do it."
With the success of the children's books, Curious George is sure to be a financial success, regardless of the quality of the production. Sounds like a fun family film in the works.

You're both wrong...it seems Hollywood is feeling DieselMania and the producer's have offered Vin the monkey role. The only problem is that the producers have already committed to Mark Wahlberg and now they want out. So I guess you better get in line cause everyone wants to chug some Diesel batch!

This year's lesson in how to prostitute warm and fuzzy childhood memories.
I'm not looking forward to what is going to be a formulaic, special effects ritalin-fest.

they have not yet begun
to taint our childhoods,
remember that "they"
probably hated these shows as children, that or they loved them to the point of defilement,
either way its been going on for decades,
not a new trend,
get used to it,
I will say this though, it seems now a days that any script will get made in to a movie,
too too too much money floating around....
they are just playing the odds...
make enough movies and one will be a big winner,
that and we as a consumer(movie-goer)
will watch F%ckn' anything...
don't bother defending yourselves I don't have horrid taste in movies either, but "we" as a whole have some of the worst taste ever....
complaining about it doesn't make a difference, if "you" don't go see the movie because it is sh*te, someone else will.
so sayith the shepard,

I am sure that George will be "updated" to current Hollywood standards of what is "cool" and that will ruin it for anyone over 10 years old.

I've noticed one thing about these threads.. You people are, on the whole, movie haters.. If movies suck so much, then go do something else, like pick up a book, and quit griping... Save it for your therapist, already...

Just the opposite Random Shemp, we love movies, but they have to be good from different angles, just like books, women, and food. You are one of those types that digs fat, ugly women, and to be truthful, I envy you, if I wasn't so picky about things , life would be a lot easier.
This is good and bad!!!

For everyone who ever grew up with Curious George the thought of a movie being made would lift their spirts. But in Computer Animation?!?! Whats up with that? Sure computers are the futre. But honestly. Turning something that was hand drawn into something that involves no talent? I can honestly say though that I am going to go see it but I really wish it was 2d not 3d.

Curious George is now going to be made in 2d, not 3d, to be released in 2005. You got your wish!
