Madonna to Star in Husband's Movie

LONDON (AP) - Madonna will star in her husband Guy Ritchie's next film, a spokesman for the British director said Friday. ?Ritchie will direct his wife of eight months in a remake of the 1975 Italian love story "Swept Away" in a marked departure from his last two films - "Snatch," which came out this year, and 1998's "Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels" - both gritty, black comedies set in the criminal underworld.

Madonna and Ritchie, who married in December, already have worked together. He directed the violent video for her recent single "What It Feels Like For A Girl," which was banned from MTV and VH1 after airing only once. She also appeared in an Internet film Ritchie created for luxury-car maker BMW. Both projects proved they worked well together, the spokesman said. ?The pop star, who's on tour in the United States, is no stranger to the big screen, or to bad reviews. She won acclaim and a Golden Globe award for her performance in Alan Parker's 1996 version of "Evita," but was widely panned for other appearances - such as 1993's "Body Of Evidence" and "Shanghai Surprise," the 1986 film that co-starred her ex-husband, Sean Penn.

The spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity, said "Swept Away" tells the story of a spoiled rich woman who falls for a communist sailor while cruising in the Mediterranean. ?No date has been set for starting production.

This is Ritchie's boldest career decision yet.  Can he turn Madonna from Music Idol to ligitamate movie actress.  We shall see how talented he really is.

Did anyone see "The Next Best Thing?  She SUCKS as an actress!  The only reason she won a Golden Globe for Evita is because she wasn't acting, it was the story of her life practically.  People like her should stick to what they do best (in this case sing) and let us real actors get a paying gig or too

Richie is very talented, but Madonna is amazingly talented.  She can do anything she puts her mind to.  She's proven that without a doubt.  Together, I belive they'll make magic on the big screen.  Madonna has said she wants to act; and so she shall.  Right on!!  I forsee sucess for the new movie!  Keep the faith!

Snatch wasn't good???  Did you see the movie?  Maybe it was over your head and you just didin't "get it."  Too bad for you.  I thought it was pure art!  And Madonna is the worlds greatest performer.  What makes you think she can't transfer that to film?  You're just boring loser... not too bright either... are you?

madonna has got a hard life, espeially in the begining now she's very rich and famous...
but when no one knew her she had to fight and be strong.
she does just she wants to do, doesn't matter if the others think she's horrible, if it's what she wants, she goes to the end.
