Mark Wahlberg Talks Planet of the Apes 2

(EMPIRE) After some last minute complications, Tim Burton?s Planet of The Apes is finally finished and despite the gruelling physical requirements of the film, star Mark Wahlberg is keen to come back for round 2.

Playing the voice of resistance who forces the oppressed human slaves to rise up against their primate captors, Wahlberg is more than happy to consider a sequel, but only if director Tim Burton signs on as well. "If Tim wants to, I'd love to, but it really depends on him," Wahlberg told reporters.

In fact, so enamoured with the director was Wahlberg that he maintains working with him was the high point of Apes: "The coolest thing about the experience was meeting Tim the person, getting to know a fantastic human being. It was a really tough shoot for me physically--I was getting beaten up for most of the movie-- I still rushed to work every day just to hang out with Tim. I never had so much fun, felt so comfortable on a set or around somebody. It was really, really special."

Not everyone on set was quite so accommodating however, the chimps kept on set were notoriously temperamental, taken to sudden temper tantrums and periodically attacking their human co-stars. More worrying was Wahlberg?s experiences with pseudo-apes Tim Roth and Michael Clarke Duncan who, unnervingly, insisted on maintaining their despotic demeanour even when the camera stopped rolling. Wahlberg admits that sometimes it was easy to forget that there were human beings under the ape-like costumes: "I did [forget] with Tim and Michael, especially because they became extremely violent, like the [real] chimps I was working with in preparing for the movie. They were relentless, they were always in character, which was fantastic for me, because I need something to cling to, to believe myself, so that way I can convey that to the audience. Yeah, there were a lot of times. Those guys in particular."

Bobo

Bobo was a monkey,
who liked to kill small boys,
he did this not out of hatred,
but because he'd broken all his toys.

Jonny was a spoiled brat,
who got any thing he wanted,
he would take his toys in to the park,
and in front of the other children he flaunted.

Well Bobo watched as Jonny did,
what he had come to do,
he played with all his hundred toys,
and made the other children go BOO-HOO.

Bobo waited cautiously,
watching the childish pig,
and then in one swift motion,
he pulled the boy in to a bush and snapped him like a twig.

News on "Planet of the Apes" star Patrick Ewing

DTheatre star, Patrick Ewing has been charged for receiving sexual favors from strippers at the Gold Club (an Atlanta strip joint). The dancers there allegedly supplied celebrity customers with sexual favors as a way of maintaining the celebrity clientele, and thus, increasing the number of regular joes who would go to the club to see the famous people.
Patrick Ewing is perhaps the most famous of the alleged customers. His defense has been that he never paid any of the dancers, but always said he was "being taken care of."  Currently Patrick can be seen as the Black monkey slave in "Planet of the Apes"

OK,I saw the BIG monkey movie last night, and this was not a grand movie! Mark had the same expression on his face for the entire movie-this is acting? Even if I viewed this as a costly cartoon-it was still lacking. They spent HOW MUCH on this turkey???????????

Word up yo. I saw it too. All I have to say is "Can't we all get along", what in the world was Burton thinking with that line, his days as being a master film dude are over. He's a joke and that movie was too. Marky Mark however is a whack homey. Word to a mother Marky, word, word, and other rap words too, word.

If every damn movie that comes out sucks as bad as you people say then why do you waist your time and money going to see them? Or do you go and see them at all? Tim still rules even if the monkeys didn't.
(P.S. for that f@#king walking encyclopedia who likes to point out every little error and typo we make, I know there is a difference between Monkey and Apes so go proofread someone elses comment.)

What in the world was he taking when he shot that movie!

Talk about lame, cross his name off the list of greats. What a huge disappointment. I looked forward to that for so long, and must admit to my deepest sorrows that "Planet of the Apes" sucked. What happened Tim?

Burton was a god to me.

He ruled the strange with mystery.

Then made "Apes" with one of the Funky Bunch.

Now he joins a list of bums out to lunch.

That poem was a lot better than "Planet of the Apes", and that's as pathetic as Jar Jar Binks!

Tim Burton has followed in the footseteps of George Lucas. The Lord of the Dark as hewas labeled once. Tim is now just another Hollywood has been.

Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch, they're all def and really punch!

Word, def, yo, homey, buggin, niggaz, word, word, word, fly, word, yo!

It's not your fault Marky, Timmy Tim just ain't what he used to be!

saw the movie..............................?????
he shot six different endings huh'
why the hell would you pick an ending that makes no sense...?
my only hope is that Tim was taking too long
and some executive took control and decided what ending to use ,
or maybe he picked it at random,
or even more likely is that all the time they spent filming in the desert boiled their brains and they couldn't recognize that the ending doesn't make any f%cking sense..and everyone on the planet is pissed..cause of some goddamn lead in to a sequel that will probably never get made,
personally I still have faith in Tim....just a little less now... lets all hope that Tim's next movie will be good...please please please.....
as before: if you "still" believe in Tim...Clap your hands

I tried, oh how I tried to make sense of it all.  It all comes down to the dates.  What did the dashboard of Marky Mark's space ship read when he crashed the first and the second time.  Only the dates can make sense of it all.

What I want to know is, WHY was Marky so incapable of landing his little microphone-shaped flyin' machine, that not once but TWICE he completely crashed & burned; yet his monkey buddy made a graceful, stylish landing without so much as a spark or grinding gears or choking down because he let his foot off the clutch too quick?

PLEASE! dont make us see another planet of the apes!

You bunch of conformists! Take the movie at face value--that is, an action blockbuster for the summer. As for that, I believe no incredibly deep thoughts can be put into a movie with a bunch of apes. So, at face value I thought it was good. You over critical bastards--why don't you try acting and making a large scale movie like The Planet of the Apes? Yep, thought so--you can't. Instead of smashing the only decent movie of the summer, why don't you go watch The Fast and the Furious, eh? That'll set your mind right to what bad movies are.

what do u mean mark wahlberg is pretending to be a criminal?? he went to jail so i think hes already dealt with that u idiots. besides, he rose from poverty, drugs, street hustling, and a number of minor crimes. he rose above all that and made it to success and i think we should be giving props to him for that, not dissing him out for it. cuz i'd like to see u make all the accomplishments he's made. all u people who are trying to diss tim burton out cuz u thought this movie was supposed be a re-make of the original "planet of the apes" from 1968. well newsflash...IT WAS ALL TOTALLY BURTON'S IDEA TO MAKE HIS OWN! NOT A RE-MAKE! SO U CAN ALL SHUT UR MOUTHS CUZ U DON'T KNOW THE WHOLE SCOOP! i think i heard mark wahlberg and tim burton(CLEARLY)state that its not meant to be a re-make of the original. i think i also hear estella warren say it too. i'm not sure so please do not quote me on that, but i know i heard one of them say it. and for the most part(to actually give u idiots a clue that the ending DID make sense and it WAS nessecary for the " quite anticipated sequel"),the ending made complete sense to me so all those people who are posting their sesnseless reviews all over the net saying sh*t like "oh the ending made no sense" or all the annoying sissy punk rocker kids(who don't even belong here and should just be trying to make their terrible garage band succeed)saying "dude, like i just like didn't like get the ending dude! totally!duuuuuude!!!" you all must not be very smart. i would explain the ending, but i don't wanna be an a**hole and ruin the movie for people who are going on these message boards who ahven't evne seen the movie yet! their jsut ruining it for themselves so i feel no need to make it worse and tell the ending of the movie. and i cannot wait for the sequel, this movie kicked ass and i hope it can be as good(if not even better)as the first one. this movie kicked major a** and i'm glad that i spent my last six bucks to see it.
keep up the good work tim burton.
oh yea dn i forgot. my post couldn't possibly be completed without this:
"word"

I think mark was awsome in pota I'm just hopin that there's gonna be a sequel to it but I think there should have been more war scenes
cause it was just going through to quick like mark and the others escape past the camp, sleep, and then the next day there's a war I think there should have been a little bit more struggle for the group to get to CALIMA and of course like I said before more war!!
P.S. you made mark look really hot in that movie then again he always looks hot!!

Some complained that Wahlberg seemed wooden, but look at the character he was playing. He was selfish and had only one thing in mind, for the most part, and that was getting back to earth. I liked the movie and ordered the DVD. Its really 2 dvds and i think it has 13 hours or so of extra viewing, it oughtta be cool.

I LOVED this movie and i cant wait for the sequal to come out, so all you people with the anti-ape attitudes should get a life and go f*ck around with he message boards somewhere else? Mark did a great job in this movie, and for the person who said he never changed his facial expression this is for you: maybe he didnt change his expression because his expression was determination and thats what half the movie was about, oh yea and timmy is not a discrace he is GREAT and as far as im concerned he can create the sequal all he wants and it WILL be great.
