(DARK HORIZONS) An entertainment reporter from Chile who recently scored a visit to the Desperado set which he eagerly checked out and wrote in this scoop. Some of the English ain't crash hot - but the info is.
Last weekend I was in Mexico for a interview with Antonio Banderas and Robert Rodriguez. They ate in San Miguel de Allende, in the last days of shooting Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the new Mariachi movie. Rodriguez used high definition cameras, and said that he will only use digital cameras for his pictures from now on. The shoot took place this week in the city of Guanajuato, and in August Rodriguez begins to shoot the sequel from Spy Kids. I talk with him and he told me that he had several projects, including a 'cool horror movie'. He said "Predator 3" will be not be realised. He wrote "a very expensive script" with the action set on the planet of the predators and had a Gladiator-style story.
I interviewed Antonio Banderas too, and he has a lot of movies in his future again. Shooting on Femme Fatale is over, as is Once Upon a Mexico. He did a special appareance in Frida, the movie where Salma Hayek is the star and the producer. Banderas plays Siqueiros, another artist and antagonist of Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina), Frida's husband.
Banderas said that he goes to England for a new movie (a dramatic history about a deformer ex soldier of the Spanish Civil War that hide in a lighthouse where a little girl is his only friend). Later, he will be in two others sequels: Spy Kids 2 and The Zorro 2.
He also wants to direct his second film in Spain and has plans to work again with his friend Pedro Almodovar.

WHY ON GODS GREEN EARTH WOULD ANYONE MAKE A SEQUEL OF EITHER OF THESE TERRIBLE MOVIES. IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT.
I'D RATHER SEE A SEQUEL TO "MYSTIC PIZZA", NO WAIT...I TAKE THAT BACK.

Big surprise! More sequels. It's all getting out of hand. Think of something new. I honestly think that most of the movies in the theatres are already a sequel, or have a sequel in the making. And it's not like they all deserve sequels. The Zorro 2, what did they miss in the first one? Does anybody even want to see it? Excuse my ranting. I'm just sick of Sequel this and Sequel that.

Does anyone proof read these articles before they are posted. It was as if it was written by a child.
On a lighter note, the third Mariachi will rock.

Why weren't the interviews posted, that would have been interesting. Or maybe they never took place and everything above is just bullsh*t. And the reason that there are so many errors is that you are nervous, nervous that you are going to be exposed for the devious bastard that you are.
Seriously, post that Rodriguez interview.

Why Robert, why?? Don't stoop to making sequels. I shake my head in shame.

When a movie makes the kind of money that SpyKids did, a sequel is inevitable.

Think of it less as a sequel and more of as another adventure with that character (El Mariachi). That's Robert Rodriguez's plan for this flick. Think Sergio Leone's "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" to "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For A Few More Dollars." (I mean, come on? How dense would you have to be to not see the connection to Sergio Leone in the title? "Once Upon A Time In The West" was another adventure with "The Man With No Name" as in the previous said three other Leone flicks)

News Flash: "Desperado" was a sequel to Robert Rodriguez's first feauture film "El Mariachi." Or as random shemp said below, "another adventure with that character."

To all those that think think there should be no Desperado sequel......bite your toungue. Rodriguez filmed Desperado when he was very new to the mainstream, and still made a movie with Die Hard thrills at a fraction of the budget. I'm eagerly waiting to see what he is going to do with the story. And remember, he didnt direct the crappy sequels to From Dusk till Dawn.
