In an interview with Variety columnist Army Archerd, John H. Williams, the producer of Shrek said that a sequel to the hit animated film is in the works. Shrek ranked second for the Memorial Day weekend box-office and has taken in an estimated $99.1 million after just 10 days of release.
Williams produced the DreamWorks film with Aron Warner and Jeffrey Katzenberg and was first exposed to the story when his sons, then 5 and 6 years old, got him hooked on William Steig's 28-page book of the same name seven years ago, Archerd reported. Williams has since screened the movie in a Boston theatre to 93-year-old Steig, his children and grandchildren, and the author approved. "You've kept it very faithful to the book," Steig reportedly told Williams.
Much better than that

I didn't pay anything for it, but I'd have spent my entire month's late fee budget on this movie! I was about to snort when the gingerbread man was being tortured, and I was in complete awe at the singing figures in the castle's info booth. It was such a simple scene, but so eerie, cool and funny all at the same time. A lot of the visual humor was very well done - nicely complementing the style and animation.
I had heard how short it was, but I thought how much entertainment they crammed in there was excellent.

I paid $1.25. It was worth every penny, except for $3.75 for the sno-caps, $4.50 for a medium popcorn. As far as the drink goes, I always take my own, they don't serve alcoholic beverages.

The other possibility is a discount theatre. We have one in Colorado Springs "Super Saver Cinema". Usually the film is out of the high end theatres by then. Drive Ins are a pretty good deal too, usually about 5.??/person for two movies and you can bring your own snacks.
