I have no ideal what that means.
Sure why not give it a try, Cuba is a fine actor.
The Brits have their "Bond", here in the USA we have "Indiana", and that role stays put with Harrison Ford, of course Jones in much cooler than Bond, and he doesn't need a whole goverment backing him up.
Anyway, I think it would be great to see someone of African heritage playing the role of Bond, another option would be to use Ruppert Murdock.

I think it's a bad call. Bond needs to be british. And I don't mean he needs a british accent, he needs to be from the U.K. Now if they want to use a black Briton, then go for it, but don't use someone from across the pond.
Even Russell Crowe would be a bad call. Use an unknown, and help a guy out.

I totally agree - use an unknown Brit. After all, the character of James Bond IS a British secret agent. The film makers should stick to Ian Fleming's original idea and keep him a suave, English lady killer. Roger Moore has lost his mind, poor old fool. He's just pissed off he's no longer playing Bond.

How about Antonio Banderas? Oh, no, wait! Jean Reno!
No, I have it...Jackie Chan.
These all would be perfectly good choices.

Dear Sir you suggested I go back to watching my...uh, "chick flicks", hehheh...
Look, I'm sorry you didn't get the joke. So very sorry. I would get all testy about the chick flick comment, but I'm sort of feeling sorry for you right now, so I'll just, I don't know, pat you on the head, smile and shake my head sadly.
You can go back to playing with your little green Army men now.;)
Let's choose the next Bond !

The entire premise is that he is a BRITISH secret agent!! Not a black secret agent from Harlem or a Chinese kung fu secret agent, he is BRITISH!! If you change the premise, it's no longer 007, then it becomes something entirely different. And to throw my two cents in, Pierce Brosnan is definitely the best 007 yet.

I've been doing a survey at my work and have gotten some very interesting suggestions. Here's the people that have been suggested the most:
1. Mr. T
2. James Earl Jones
3. Corey Feldman (I think this is part of the Corey Feldman conspiracy theory)
4. William Shatner
5. John Cleese
6. Clint Eastwood
Well those are the top 6, they've gotten the most votes, kinda wierd.

James Bond, though a fictional character, has a personality, and many characteristics that make him, James Bond. He is an average-height, british, connosiour, with a certain charm. Cuba Gooding Jr., though a good actor, would not add these specific attributes to the movie, like those before him have(Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnon, and even Timothy Dalton). The next James Bond should at least be British!!

After reviewing your choices, I have but one comment to say. WHAT THE f*ck ARE YOU THINKING? JC Van Damme?
Have you even seen a 007 movie? Those choices are ludicrous.

With the ignorant comment like "blacks should stick to their roots" we know you are open-minded. The comments in this section continue to state that James Bond should be British! Well; Sean Connery - Scottish, and the Best Bond so far Pierce Brosnan - Irish. No one complained about their ethnicity. I think the discussion is a matter of in what fashion was the character conceived, and what was Sir Authur Coning Doyle intented. Which is why those prior actors while not "BRITISH", while in step with the author intents and/or vision for the character. I see no problem with changing the actors race as long as the charactors persona is in line with the charactor's history and audiences general expections for the character.

Here we go... Darren Aronofsky directs Timmy as he takes on the most challenging role of BatBond in "BatBond", the riveting tale of a Quadriplegic Black British Asian Spy/Writer of Ficiton, who tells of his many adventures dealing with his ultra feminist mother, transvestite friends and other such craziness.
Alternative title: The World According to BatBond.
Timmy!

If we are gonna go with a Black Bond, how about Forrest Whittaker?
He has a lot going for him. He is a good actor, And if you saw "The Crying Game", you know he can play a believable Brit. Plus, he is turning into a first rate director, He could direct! He could be the perfect twofer!
I think the world is ready for a chubby Bond.

Do you not realise that Sean Connery is Brittish??!! Scotland is a part of Britain you know. In the books, James Bond is half Scottish and half Swedish anyway, so where the actor comes from doesn't really matter.

Why are you using the term BRITISH and Brosnan in the same sentence. Irish does not mean British for the last time get it into your heads (God you are slow it takes 800 years for little facts like this to sink in). Black James bond....of course but I agreee he should maintain the level of cool that is expected. How about Trevor Nelson...? But my real bet for the next James bond is Jude Law or Johnny Lee Miller. New actor on the scene should also be considered. Colin Farrell was in Tigerlands etc.

You are all f*cking idiots. Brosnan the best Bond? Not quite. That would be Connery and Moore a very close second. And yes, the idea of a black man playing Bond is f*cking retarded. As is a woman playing Bond. You idiots forget Bond was created by Ian Flemming, as a white male etc., if you want a black or female star that's fine, do it in another movie, but don't muck up 50+ years of history.

Going back to the comment regarding having Jackie Chan as the new Bond...I think if we were to chose an Asian actor, the choice should be Chow Yun Fat. He's much more suave.

From a purely economic stand point if cuba gooding Jr became james bond the movie will gross a lot more money, simply because the public will view the new bond as something unique and would be curious enough to spend money to see the film
