How can you say that type of thing....it's people like you that prevent others from getting the support and help that they need. Addiction is extremely hard to overcome, especially when you have the money for it. Obviously he needs some type of help, and is not getting it!

you'd think he'd learn from past mistakes.. the only person he needs to help is himself. he probably did get some kind of help from rehab, but because of the level of addiction he's in.. outside help doesnt matter anymore at this point.
NO PITY FOR DOWNEY!

ROBERT DOWNEY JR has had enough chances to overcome his "addictions". The public feels for these "celebrities", just as some did for Darryl Strawberry. Well, they're just people. I'm sure we all know people in our lives with so called "addictions", but we don't feel sorry or show compassion for them. We despise those individuals, tell our children and family and friends to stay away from that "loser" or "druggy". Well, DOWNEY should get the book thrown at him this time, his celebrity status should not be taken into account. If he'd stick to his recovery program instead of his celebrity status of "I'm a star!", maybe he'd improve. I will not and do not support such problems and choices regarded of thier social status. He's had more chances then he deserves, now lets put him where he belongs, in prison with all of the other repeat offenders.

Yeah, but too bad inside there is no help. There's just as many drugs inside as there are outside. When are we, as a society going to stop criminalizing the addicts and start treating the illness. If he had cancer and the treatment didn't work they'd try again and again until he was better or dead. Not us though...we say he's weak and spoiled and send him to prison instead with a holier then thou "You had your chance buddy". It's an illness, an addiction. He and other addicts don't have will power. I've got an idea! Lets put all the addicts (yes, that includes you cigarette smokers!) in prison. If you can't quit smoking and get cancer or emphysema we'll just say it's you're own damn fault. No treatment for you. Why is one addiction criminalized and the other one a huge source of revenue for corporations and the government? Too many hypocrites spouting crap as far as I'm concerned.
Lets hope Downey gets the help he needs someday. I can guarantee it won't be in prison.

ROBERT DOWNEY JR IS GOING TO JAIL THIS TIME! THROW AWAY THE KEY! Only kidding. Look, I know all about addiction. I know all about recovery. Obviously, he thinks he doesn't have a problem when he chooses to pick up the drugs that cause his life chaos. The definition of insanity is doing the exact thing over and over again.......but expecting different results. Do you have pity on the "addict" who harms you or someone else? Why not, it was thier addiction that made them do it, right? BULLSHYT!!!!

Something tells me the Robert Downey Jr. doesn't exactly need to be breaking into peoples' houses to find things to pawn at this point. I mean, he's Robert Downey Jr.
Anyway...I think the sad thing here is that the slot that Downey is taking up (and apparently takes up over and over again) could be filled by someone who actually does want to help themself.
Please don't compare addictions, by the way. Let's not place cigarette smokers and coffee drinkrs in the same boat as crackheads and heroin junkies. It's apples and oranges, my friend.
And the cold hard fact remains that people must be responsible for themselves. It's one thing to make a mistake and get bailed out once, maybe twice (I mean, we're not so black of soul that we just plain don't want to help) but to do it repeatedly? Come on. And we are supposed to keep up the same level of sympathy everytime?
With all the common knowledge of these drugs, guess what...it really IS their own damn fault. There IS no one else to blame. Now, I can respect someone who made the stupid mistake of getting addicted, and then kicked it. They are forgiven. But, frankly, I don't give a rats' ass about these people (including Downey) that just bounce in and out of rehab, acting like they're such a victim. Sure, they're victims...of their own pathetic, drooling stupidity.
I say lock his ass up. Don't let him out to "work" (uh...make movies and more money to buy smack when he gets out...again). Time to pay the piper.

I don't think I've ever seen a person overdose and die on...coffee. Maybe I'm just not hanging out in the right coffee houses. Can we compare coffee houses to crack houses? That's sounds like fun.
My point reiterated: Apples and oranges. They are both fruit, but completely different.

this argument is retarded. with that logic I could say Ive never seen someone smoke a joint and die of lung cancer and Ive never seen someone hit a bong and have there liver fall out there ass or beat there wife, get in a fight, crash there car and die,or crash there car and kill someone.however I have personaly seen all these things with alcohol and tobacco witch are legal.leave downey alone let him do his drugs if he commits a real crime when hes on drugs or off drugs then send him to jail. I bet you people that want him locked up are going to get drunk and smoke this weekend. remember alcohol was illeagal once.

Downey isn't going to jail for his addictions. That is just the big lie that those who get off on glamorizing drugs tell. He is going to jail for his CRIMES.
What crimes could the boy vacuum have committed?
DUI mostly. It's illegal as hell and very deadly.
Unfortunately they only put people in jail when it is clear that they can not stop driving under the influence.
The truth is Downey doesn't want to quit. If you really want to quit, you got to change your life completely, Move out of th old neighborhood, get new friends, change jobs.
No, he doesn't want to quit, doesn't want to leave Hollywood, go to school and learn a trade. He still thinks he can live the fast life and not do drugs. But his is proving that he can't.
He is trying to bargain with God, but it's the devil who answers the phone.

youve got issues man, a cup of coffee and a heroin-filled hypo are very different vices, are you saying you expect us to view them as the same? And by the breaking into houses comment i only meant that he has put himself in a position that typically ends in thievery and death, If i came off sounding holy it was not my intention and i apologize for that. no, I dont go get drunk every weekend but as everyone else I partake in my own way, in fukin moderation moron, when it gets to the point where hes at, its a problem. Just because hes got the $ to back it does not make it ok, and yes I do want him locked up, hes a menace to society, and mabye I will get drunk and smoke this weekend, ITS LEGAL..
ps: if youve never seen anyone do a bong hit and have their liver fall out their ass your not doing it right

f*ck it legalize everything. i dont give a f*ck what downey or any other adult for that matter wants to put in there body.if they rob somebody or commit a real crime then lock him up.who cares if he doesnt want to quit.if I had the oppertunty to do drugs and f*ck hollywood sluts all day I would. alcohol is not illegal and coke is.who cares so are blowjobs in most states but I dont think you need to go to jail and get f*cked in the ass for it.....which by the way is also illegal

Since when did Prison do anyone any good. The guy was screwed up enough already without having to deal with that! Whatever goos rehab might do and hopefully, it will work, might help him to stop. Other people have managed it. In the end, no addict stops until they decide they can beat the addiction and face up to whatever it is in their life they are running from. I for one hope he makes it, as I hope every addict of whatever class manages to kick the habit. Privilege is not a guarantee against unhappiness. Robert Downey will either kill himself or kick the habit, like any other addict. Celebrities are easy to ake pot shots at so leave the guy alone!
