For the multitudes of eager Star Wars fans who would do anything to catch a glimpse of Star Wars Episode II, George Lucas has provided a means to help ease the pain. He is providing fans with an exlusive look at what is going into the production of the second prequel, which is all posted on the official Star Wars web site.

On the site, there is an ongoing documentary that charts Episode's II's progress to the big screen, according to a report from Empire Online UK.

The first part of the series outlines Lucas? journey from first digital experiments on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, to the phenomenal techniques used in The Phantom Menace and finally his decision to shoot the second prequel entirely in the digital format. The featurette includes shots of the crew filming on location, Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid shooting in front of bluescreens, C-3PO and R2-D2 in action, as well as interviews with Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen and a lightsaber twirling Samuel L Jackson.

Sounds good, with any luck this time Lucas will get rid of that stupid character, and will hire someone to do the dialouge which was painful in episode 1. If he aims the next 2 towards adults and not little kids he can easily save the series from being laughed at the way Phantom Menace was. I hope this movie takes at least another year or so to finish, cause if I see Sam Jackson before that time I'm done with movies forever. Between him and John Goodman they must do 15 movies a year. "Imposter" is about to come out, it looks like a good sci-fi movie, and there's always Farscape on TV. Anyway, I'm sure Lucas will not make the same mistakes twice.

I have to agree with that. All of it, most of all Samuel Jackson and John Goodman whom grace the silver screen way too much. Lucas must aim this flick towars the real Star Wars fans whom he won over back in the the late 70's with Star Wars. Return of the Jedi started off great but then veered into grappling Teddy Bears, and Phantom Menace was pathetic, I've never been more disappointed with a movie. Keep in mind Lucas is the master of this realm, and I'm sure this time its gonna be great. No more silly characters, and awful lines. I think Imposter looks pretty good, its got a good cast, but we'll see. There have not been too many good Sci Fi movies in the last 5 years. "Pitch Black" was good, but I don't think the others were too good. I heard a rumor that Jet Li will be a Sith in an upcoming Star Wars film, can anyone back that one?

I know there a lot of "Shemps" giving you BS 100% American but I have to say:

Pitch Black was not that good.. it was well shot and well made but the story and dialoge lacked.

The aliens were ripped straight out of the "Alien" series and even some of the shots.

Vin Diesel was cool. Total Bad Ass, and the cinematographic effects (bleaches, color effects, etc...) were overdone but good nonetheless. The infra-red thing was a very cool and original idea.

If I ever want to see a well done mix of Aliens and Mad Max, Pitch Black would be my movie.

Now I liked a lot if not most of the Alien movies if we wanna talk Sci-Fi. Also I eagerly await Rendezvous With Rama which will be directed by David Fincher so it's got to be pretty cool.

Damn 100% even the guys that run this place think you're a dipsh*t.

I thought Pitch Black was pretty badass movie. I think there were similarities to Aliens, but I think that is due to the genre of the film. Hardly because the story was a rip off. Plus Sigorney Weaver is annoying as hell.

Thats a fair opinion Jack, the story of "Pitch Black" did border on "Aliens", and there were times that the dialog was weak, but as far as the story goes, it really was original, and had a pretty good cast: Cole Hauser, Vin Diesel, and Kieth David were all very good, the lead chick was fair. I thought the first "Aliens" was a great flick, but the ideal got old real quick. Although the one with Charles Dutton was pretty good, except for the ending. As far as Sci-Fi goes, I get my fix each week from "Farscape" which at times gets a little too much into the drama, but tells a good story with great characters, and first rate acting. This strays from the Television and movie screens, but if anyone, is interested in a truly great Sci Fi story: Check out "Camelot 3000", a graphic Novel by DC. Also another DC Graphic Novel which is a Sci-Fi masterpiece is "Ronin", I read both when I was a kid, but I still find them to be superb.

   Well...... let the grilling begin.

I have to agree, Pitch Black was a very good movie but was somewhat in a class of it's own. One you guys may remember that is in the same class was called Hardware. I do not know what to call the class of movie but as near as I can see, they get no "hype" by the studio but are extremely good movies just the same.

Posted by Jack (jack@dtheatre.com) on March 30, 2001 3:33 PM

I agree that the idea got old with aliens but the reason that Alien? (that would be the one with Charles Dutton) owned was that David Fincher directed that one.

The first one was good too probably because of Ridley Scott.

star wars is kids entertainment. if you want to enjoy (cough) watch some "plup fiction" (lame american humor) (or some other cultural mubojumbo, with all those actors thinking they were great, yeah right films like that make me sick and bored) Fairytails are for kids and star wars is just that. Don't you forget that!!!

My Boys?  Whats that mean?

I like girls SHEMP

I have nothing against homosexuals, you guys are OK with me, I just think your a coward for slinging BS from behind your random Shemp facade. Its any writers right to use the SHEMP disguise, that way they can voice their opinion without any back lash. This company Digital Theatre labels them Shemps, the rest of us label them "Pussies". This pissant that keeps hacking on me is the "Queen Pussy" and will be referred to as that for now on.

We all know your not American Princess. No red blooded American hides like you. Until you start acting like a man, I'm afraid we can't keep playing with you. Good luck to you Princess Pussy and I honestly do hope that sometime in the near future you start acting like a man. Bye.

First off 100% American, you are correct I am not a U.S. citizen, I am in fact from London, and we like it here very much, furthermore I love the name Princess Pussy and accept it, and would like all Digital Theatre Users to dub me that for now on. I AM PRINCESS PUSSY!!!!!

The truth is I'm not gay, although I can see why you might think that, I have experimented with boys before, and enjoyed it, but that does not make me gay. I hate you 100% American, and I hate the USA, you think just cause you work harder than the rest of the world that your better than us, and your not. What all of you are, is a bunch of a--holes. The reason I don't log in a name is because I'm scared.....big deal!

I'm not a virgin, i love movies.....my favorite being "Care Bears: The Next Generation", and my hobbies include molesting small animals, and eating stuff I find on the street. My favorite actor is Hugh Grant of course, and my favorite actress is Hugh Grant.

I'll leave this one on a high note: Screw you 100% AMERICAN, I HATE YOUR GUTS, AND I HATE ALL AMERICANS, AND BURN YOUR UGLY FLAG EVERY CHANCE I GET.

Hey 100%, I don't know who the limey toolbag is but this is the original annoying shemp (started with Flintstones sucks, remember pea brain?)

I am about as American as they come and I still can't figure out why your sorry ass wants my email so bad? I really think you are queer after me, which is not a big deal really, but i think you're in a state of denial.

You keep calling me princess and queen, I definitely think is some kind of deviant hang up. Then you wrote earlier that you like girls, so maybe you are also a pederast.

Well I am a red blooded American who loves WOMEN that knows better than to give a pederast with deviant homosexual (as opposed to healthy) tendencies my email address.

So go find yourself a good therapist, weirdo.

Only an undereducated twat like you would be so hung up on anything as mundane as correct spelling.

French people have better things to do.

I am proud to be American and I would not want to be a citizen of any  other country but this garbage you losers all pontificate about is ridiculous. I can't ridicule a cartoonist and still be an American? YOU are the fascist idiots who repress ideas that don't fall into line with your pathetic belief system.

"Star Wars" isn't just an "American" film.  It has a Global theme ( come on admit it, you have all seen at least ONE of them. Even YOU, Jack.)

Star Wars has a strong underlying theme about intolerance ( on the face it is just a good and entertaining set of films.)

Whereas, the Empire represents bigotry and intolerance by trying to conquer the inferior
non-humanoid worlds and the Rebels represent freedom and tolerance for all.  The Empire chooses their leaders based on power and conceit, whereas the Rebellion chooses their leaders based on who can do the job best.  Therefore, it was inevitable that the Rebels conquered the evil, intolerant, narrow minded, hateful, murdering hordes of the Empire ( good always triumphs over evil.)

" Use the Force, Luke."

Darth Vader got his mojo back in the end and stopped the cycle of hatred by realizing that he could not let his own son die.  With that one redeeming act, he saved himself and returned to the "light."

Is Star Wars intended to be a lesson in humanity or humility?  Probably not, but doesn't it make you think.

All this and Episode II isn't even OUT yet!  I will have to go to the Star Wars site and get my fix.
