(E!) Ang Lee has begun preliminary work on the prequel to his hugely popular film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which has become the top grossing foreign language film of all time.
The prequel will bring back Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh.
However, the big obstacle this time seems to be a money issue.
"It would be very expensive; everybody's going to charge me five times as much," Lee tells USA Today. "We got all the equipment for half price. When we went on location, they thought we were a TV crew. That's not going to happen again."
Don't expect this prequel to come out in the near future. Michelle Yeoh has just started her own production company, Mythical Films, in Hong Kong(one reason she didn't take the offer for The Matrix sequels), as well as gathering talent to star in her company's first production, The Touch.
Ang Lee is currently working on an adaptation of The Incredible Hulk comic book, as well as a biopic of the famed escape artist and illusionist, Harry Houdini. Both should be interesting to see. |
