Director Ridley Scott will add as much as an hour of unused footage to a TV version of the hit movie Hannibal, which CBS will be able to run exclusively as a four-hour miniseries beginning in the November sweeps of 2003.
CBS will pay $18 million for airing rights to Hannibal and USA will pay $12 million for additional airs. USA is expected to schedule the two-hour version of Hannibal.
According to Variety's sources; ABC and TBS/TNT weren't interested in Hannibal because of it's controversial content.
There is no word yet whether or not the DVD version will contain the addtional footage, I truly do hope so.

Why watch it spread across 4 nights and full of car advertisements, when for 4 dollars you (eventually) can rent it on DVD and enjoy it in one sitting. Why does my computer keep beeping!!?!?!?!?!

Yes, it will be on DVD in a special edition but only after we've shelled out $25 for the original version. I got the Stanley Kubrick box set and now they've released a Special Edition... Cursers!!!

I sure hope so! Not only did we feel short-changed by the different ending than the book, but we saw things in the trailer that were not in the movie! What was THAT all about?!
