I too like Matthew Perry and hope he gets better. I don't think he has an image of a party hearty kind of person. He became addicted to a prescription drug, not an illegal narcotic. It could happen to anybody. Best wishes for a speedy rehab Matthew!

Too bad. All that money and nothing better to do with it but sit around, doped up and thinking about all the dumb-asses who are impressed with him. If he indeed needs a new liver than I say 'better off feeding it to the dog!'

Just for your information, those who have had the misfortune to become addicted to ANY kind of drug usually do so because of a dire need to escape emotional and/or mental pain that has become so overwhelming that the only way to deal with "life" is to use drugs or alcohol. For those of you fortunate enough to escape this horrible malady, I guarantee you suffer from some kind of addiction, whether it is relationships, sex, money, work, etc. And if you have no addictions whatsoever, my hat is off to you. However, I am thankful for at least one thing and that is that those of us who have gone through addiction and may still be going through it, can show compassion and empathy, unlike comments such as this one portray. To be void of compassion would have to be close as close to cold and dead as you can get I would imagine. My prayers are with all addicts in every walk of life! God Bless you!

You don't get it. I have no problem with people who are trying to recover from addictions, emotional problems,or any of the multitude of manifestions of the stress of daily life. But don't expect me to feel sorry for some rich little snot because "you just can't imagine the pressures of being a star!" You people sit around and say 'poor Matthew Perry' because he can flush his life away in a fashionable way and when it all gets too much he can go check into Cedars-Sinai. You same 'poor Perry' people wouldn't think twice about some everyday schmuck who has been through more than just being a "good time Charlie" and all they can afford to do is end up some homeless untouchable out on the street.
And if this guy needs another liver he'll get it because he has the money, and he'll probably turn around and destroy that one too. But some struggling father of four who has worked hard and tried to live by some code of decency; someone whose life is worth more than this spoiled little "good-time Charlie", will die because he can't afford to run out and buy a new liver.
If he didn't have the money and fame he would just be another 'loser' sitting in jail. That's where they send your common abusers. Didn't you know that. Ask George W., he'll tell you!

"All that money..." had nothing to do with it. These were perscription drugs, not cocaine or heroin. And he obviously isn't just sitting around. He's battling it. It takes time, and support. More power to Matthew for fighting it, instead of sitting around, thinking of the dumb-asses who don't know what they're talking about.

I BEG TO DIFFER WITH YOU SIR ON THE POINT OF WHAT MATTHEW PERRY HAS TO "WORRY" ABOUT AND THE PRESSURE HE IS UNDER. IT ISNT QUITE THAT SIMPLE YOU SEE. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A POOR SCHMUCK, HOMELESS,ETC. HE JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME A STAR. AND WHO IS TO SAY HE WONT END UP HOMELESS, DEAD IN AN ALLEY SOMEWHERE OR HOTEL ROOM OR IN A MENTAL FACILITY (IF HE LASTS THAT LONG)? I GUARANTEE YOU ONE THING FOR CERTAIN, HE DEFINITELY WILL END UP IN ONE OF THOSE SCENARIOS IF HE DOESNT SEEK WHATEVER HELP HE NEEDS TO OVERCOME HIS ADDICTION. I STILL FAIL TO SEE WHY YOU HAVE SUCH A LACK OF COMPASSION FOR HIM JUST BECAUSE HE HAS MONEY OR FAME. IT DOESNT NEGATE THE FACT THAT HE IS HUMAN, HE HAS SUFFERED FROM SOMETHING THAT HAS CAUSED AN INABILITY TO FACE REALITY AND IT DOESNT COMPLETELY HAVE TO DO WITH HIS WEALTH OR FAME. IT MAY BE HIS DOWNFALL WHEN IT IS ALL SAID AND DONE. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LESS FORTUNATE I SEE ON THE STREETS OF MY CITY WHO STILL HAVENT FACED REALITY AND SOUGHT HELP? IT ISNT BECAUSE THERE ISNT HELP AVAILABLE, IT IS DUE TO THEIR INABILITY TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PART THEY PLAY IN THEIR RECOVERY OR RELAPSE! SO PLEASE SPARE ME THE "POOR" PERSONS EXCUSE! I AM POOR MATERIALLY AND I WAS BLESSED BY A GOD WHO LOOKED BEYOND MY FAULTS AND SAW MY NEED! WE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ALL OVER THE WORLD! RICH OR POOR! GOD'S COMPASSION ISNT PREJUDICED OR BIASED AND NEITHER SHOULD OURS BE.
