(Fox News) A bit of disgusting news for any hard working person. Harrison Ford will receive $25 million for 20 days of work on his next film, K-19: The Widowmaker. That's more than $1 million a day!
Here are the stats:
Each day of work, he'll come away with $1.25 million. For a standard 8 hour day, that's $156,000 an hour, about $2,500 a minute, and get this: $41 a second. Boy I wish...
K-19: The Widowmaker is based on the true story of a Russian submarine commander who has to stop a nuclear explosion that could trigger World War III.
And in a bit of surprising news , Ford said that he didn't take the role for the ridiculous pay out.
"The cash didn't tempt me. I took the part because of the gripping plot," the actor says. Sure, Harrison.
Other stars, including Liam Neeson and Rod Steiger, will work for three months in Russia, Iceland and Canada with K-19 director Kathryn Bigelow ? for about one-third of what Ford is pulling down.
K-19 ? produced by National Geographic Films and distributed by 20th Century Fox and New Regency Films ? begins shooting this month for a 2002 release.
Well, I have to say that I'm a big fan of Harrison Ford. He's good in every movie he's in, regardless of the plot. He's worth a lot of money, but not that much. No one is this valuable, at least in my honest opinion. This looks almost as bad as Alex Rodriguez getting the $150 million to go play for the Texas Rangers.
Well, at least the producers think he's worth it. I guess that's all that counts. I'm sure this news will let at least a few of the hard working readers out there down. I for one think the industry should try to keep payouts reasonable (several million is ok), but who am I to make that call?

You are worth what people are willing to pay you. You don't have any right to rain on someone elses parade because you are a second rate internet journalist.

I agree, hes worth what they want to pay him. I dont think anyone is worth that much anyway, but thats how it is. Besides, he'd be stupid to turn that amount down.

The rich keep getting richer and the poor just get poorer. I hope Harrison Ford has the foresight to donate some of this to those around the world who have nothing.

Alex Rodriguez is getting $250 mill, not 150. This isn't comparable to baseball....
Why does this make you sick, people have been making this kind of dough for the past year now. Where you been?

I am surprised by the comments to this article. I for one agree with the article. Yes, actors have been paid way too much for too long, but that doesn't make it right. Harrison Ford is a great actor, but neither he, nor ANYBODY else, is worth that much money. I don't even want to get started on sports figures.
This article does make me roll my eyes. I won't make $156,000 this whole year (unless I win the lottery unexpectedly) let alone in an hour. I'm in shock over the figures.
I know that there isn't anything that can be done. How could we prevent it? I just want to make it known that not all of us hard working americans agree with it.

You talk about not raining on anybody else's parade, but then continue to do so by calling the author a "second rate internet journalist". You may be worth what people are willing pay you, but some of us see our worth in other than dollar signs. So, what are you worth?

Harrison Ford is the f*cking man!! if someone can pull off gettin paid that much cash and only workin for 20 days, gawd damn u know he got skillz, i dont give a funk what people think about over paid actors, they aint the fools the people who are willing to pay that amount of money are. im sure anybody with a right mind would want that much money for that little time to work for it. i dont care who u are, if u were in that spot u wouldnt be sayin any of this bullsh*t ur saying now, crying about celebrities/atheletes gettin too much money for what they're worth, shut da funk up! and think about makin ur own damn money! instead of tryin to steal other peoples riches and spotlight..

Harrison Ford does (or did) work as hard as any other American.
I think most of these comments are based off of a righteous and justified jealousy, but still none of you would ever turn down the offer for that much money and if you did I would have to kill you for being completely stupid (no offence).
Is it fair? Harrison Ford got lucky through a random chain of events and got put in a position that he could make money like this. I have always trusted that random was fair. On the other hand I have also always know that life is not fair but you can work to make yourself successful if you were ambitious enough.

I've got a photo here of Harrison back when he was a lowly carpenter in California. He busted his tail to cover the rent, just like the rest of us. So I say that paycheck was earned, not inherited.

1) Basic economics- supply vs demand. Harrison Ford is worth this much because of public demand- he brings in the box office.
2) Don't forget he pays well over half of this out in federal and state income tax and probably self-employment tax. His agent also gets a big cut. And he probably has some other expenses to pay.

i make a good living as an artist and a graphic designer. i have a happy home, a loving wife and a bunch of pets. I'm not a zillionaire and I don't give a sh*t. I wouldn't trade my life for anyone elses. But if someone offered me $100 million for a painting or a website, i'd take it in a heartbeat and I'd say "screw you!" if you though I was a jerk for taking it. So don't try that retarded half-baked spiritual crap on me I know fully well who I am, and I'm feeling pretty fargin good about it.

Guess what? I would rather Mr. Ford make that kind of money than another dirtbag oil baron's son from Texas. Who gangs up with his fellow dirtbag Monty Burns (the Simpson's) wannabes and buys a presidency using a multimillion dollar marketing ambush.

Yeah, you people are just jealous. What? You don't think he earned it? I mean, for years he was barely getting enough money, and was working his butt off!
And another thing, if you were offered that much, would YOU pass it up? I don't think so!
My advice to you: Shut up and quit picking on him!

I've wanted to be famous, but no! I can't be, because people are too busy casting him in movies instead of me! How uncool.
