Both Davis and Rothery said that they had been approached about appearing in the planned sequel. The two actors also said that production on the sequel should begin sometime in October, shortly after wrapping up the filming of the fifth season.

This would be GREAT!!!
First, the movie was one of the best I've ever seen.
Second, the series was a great combination of what the movie had to offer and a continuation of the (movie) story.
Third, the added benefits of an increased budget and a hightened/lengthend story line leave the possibilities wide open.
Toping the movie & series with a sequel will be tough, but hopefully worth the wait.

Oh, that would be soooooo cool!
The film is a wonderful piece of work. And the series is just the coolest thing ever, and all those people who say that Richard Dean Anderson can't do comedy?? what program are they watching????
He's hysterical in it!!
Great idea, can't wait!

I wonder what the original Stargate creators have to say about this. Remember, they didn't like the series in the first place.

"McGuyver : The Movie"
'Nuff said!!!
Seriously this is the best T.V. adaptation to movie fotmat you could hope for. Anyone that follows SG-! knows it is drstically different than the original movie. However it has a strong following of loyal viewers and could attract many more via a feature film. The "Camp" factor of the Showtime series must be contained in it. If Jack gets enough one-liners, it will keep us faithful's quote bins full for weeks! Just hope they dont follow that slippery slope the X-Files movie did.
Jeesh what a turd!
Well whenever it will come out, I'm There with my $8! Plus thousands upon thousands like me.
That's my take...What's yours?

I agree with the others in this list the movie was great and the first 4 seasons wherer fantastice, the last season left a lot to be desired. Using the same cliff hanger end to this one as with the end of 2 seasons ago with SG1 being captured by the Go'uld The could have done a lot better.

hi fellow gaters. i was actually there at the convention and met the stars, and had a long chat with Mr. Davis about the upcoming sequel. He has heard rumours that a different cast will be used for the movie, but he hopes, (as do i), that the casting director will change his mind, and at least consider using the current cast for the movie. before i go, another star was also at the convention. i'll give you a hint as to who it was. he's really nasty, he's the biggest threat to the SGC, he's goa'uld. got it yet? i'll tell you anyway. it was APOPHIS!!! played by peter williams. despite having the nastiest character on the show, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. if you'd like to ask more about the stars, just email me at "Gate_Traveller@yahoo.com" hope to hear from you

I loved the first Stargate movie. All I wanted was more even after I watched the movie about 100 times. When the series(SG-1) first got started I hated it. I didn't like the idea of other actors playing the roles set out by Mili Avital and Kurt Russell. However, after watching about 10 episodes I got hooked. I used to be a Star Trek fan. Then I got with the future...SG-1. Star Trek belonged to your parents. Stargate is OURS! I hope they stick with the cast of SG-1. No more changes! They have a good thing going I hope they don't screw it up.
Dedicated Sci-fi Fan

A Stargate sequel is wonderful news. We've only seen the first series in Australia and we're desperate for the network that screened it, Channel 7 to catch up.

I too was at the convention, but I haven't heard anything more about the movie yet - nothing concrete anyway. Suffice it to say that it is a fantastic idea, and it would definitely have to have the current cast in it. I could see it being boycotted in disgust by a lot of SG-1 fans if a different cast were to be employed. It just wouldn't be the same!
If anyone would like to contact me as well about the convention, send to neferneferuamen@yahoo.com.
Cheers

The reason why Kurt din't joke around in the film was because he was suicidal, however in the series we could say that Jack as something to live for.....that's why he gets to be sarcastic, and even if some of you think that Rich is only playing well....heck i don't see O'neill going around smoke in is mouth kicking goaulds asses(too much of an a movie clich?....you know guy with the big gun, kicks ass, gets all the girls and stuff?)anyway my 2c......
