Colin Farrell (Tigerland) is currently in the final talks to replace Matt Damon, and will co-star with Tom Cruise in Minority Report, Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the Philip K. Dick scifi short story, according to a report from Variety. Fox and Dreamworks are co-producing the film.
Damon retired himself from the set of Minority Report because of delays due to Spielberg's recent health problems, his decision to first film A.I. rather than Minority Report, and the need for frequent rewrites on the script itself.
Farrell is currently completing production on Hart's War, and will join Minority Report immediately after that. The plan is to wrap production on Minority Report in June, which is also ahead of the strike deadline set by the actor's union.
As for a basic story lowdown, Cruise will play a cop who finds himself being pursued by Farrell's character for a murder he has not yet committed.
