LONDON (Reuters) - More than 20 years after the first "Alien" film shocked audiences around the world, actress Sigourney Weaver has agreed a 15 million pound deal to play Ripley for a fifth time, the Sunday Express reported.
The British paper said the film -- which will be set on Earth for the first time -- would be released in 2004, the 25th anniversary of the original.
"I've always wanted to do one where we go back to the planet from where the alien originally came or even get to Earth," Weaver told the newspaper.
The 51-year-old actress will also be executive producer on "Alien 5," written by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Wheedon.
Fans thought the films' run had come to an end when Weaver's character was killed off in "Alien 3" in 1992, but she was successfully cloned to reappear in "Alien Resurrection" in 1997.

Well, the fourth movie was pretty enjoyable, I have been hoping the next one, IF there was a next one might deal with the critters getting loose here on Earth. A few of the novels were very entertaining that were written on that subject.

Can we pretend like Resurrection never happened? It was entertaining enough, but ruined the story arch, IMHO.
The ultimate would have been if the Sulaco returned to earth, successfully smuggling alien embryos back to earth, and CAUSED the infestation of earth.
I'll go to see Alien 5 nonetheless... :-)

I remember Sigourney making fun of the Aliens vs Predator idea then saying how good number four was going to be. Well number four stunk out the show...that Alien baby stuff was pure crap...but I'll still see five also.

Just curious dillweed, who are you to tell anyone they are wrong? Oh, I see, NOBODY! And it is a very good thing that narrowminded snooty people like you don't run things, and you are the first one to jump up and prove your ignorance by opening your mouth. Do everyone a favor and sit down and be quiet until you have something to add other than trying to feel superior by downing someone else. Pitiful twerp

The Fourth Movie was a very wise step, AND it showed off some of weaver's acting talents. You need to grow up and appreciate movies more. Alien 5 should be excellent
