We Had It All Wrong

Well, after only a day Warner Bros. shot down the reports of Marilyn Manson playing Willy Wonka in the upcoming remake of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory

This is what happens with reporting today. ?One gets a news feed from a source. ?Then prints it. ?Another picks up that story, and re-prints it. ?Then another gets that story. ?Etc. ?You get the idea.

It seems the only factual information is that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will be remade, and it will be produced by Warner Brothers.

Tim Burton is not going to be directing this film, however cool it might have been if he did. ?Gary Ross(Pleasantville, Big) is directing the film, and has stated that Marilyn Manson will have no part in the film. ?Not even as an Oompa Loompa.

Well, as good as the film will probably be, I'm a little disappointed. ?Manson starring in a Tim Burton film would have been interesting, regardless of how much they would have butchered Willy Wonka.. ?It definitely wouldn't be something you would want to take your kids to see, and would drastically cut down the target audience.

There's still the rumored production of American McGee's Alice, so at least we might get a taste of what a darkened children's story would be like on the big screen.

I must be the only person on the planet that thinks Tim Burton is a hack.
I'm glad he's not on board , he would have butched it.

Is it just me, or is Alice in Wonderland scary anyway? If you really think about it - the whole story is creepy whether it is Disney or not. And remember the made for TV version "Through the Looking Glass" or whatever? With the Jabberwocky or whatever... *shudders*

Actually I heard that Patrick Ewing will be the lead in the Willy Wonka remake...just as soon as he finishes up with the Planet of the Apes remake.

So what you are trying to stay is you take no responsibility for your actions and/or statements. Interesting but pathetic how rumours, gossip and general bullsh*t get transmitted throughout the media yet it is never anyones fault. Did you consider researching the story yourself? Wait! That sounds like hard work... screw it ... just write the dam story to fill your quota and go for a martini at happyhour.... Hurray  you are now another journalitic hack and one day soon the Enquirer may be calling on you. Good luck

Archeron, do you have a spelling checker? Doesn't your editor proofread articles before they are published?  You DEFINITELY need one. (notice It's not spelled DEFINATELY) Also, it should be "children's story" not "childrens story".  I find it hard to give credence to any information source that can't even spell properly in a news article.

Who really gives a sh*t?  I mean, if this were a serious news article, in the first place, they wouldn't have opinions in their articles, which they frequently do.  What does this mean?  THEY ARE NOT INTENDING TO BE SERIOUS JOURNALISTS.  Even newspapers mispell words and make typos.  And get that stick outta yer ass.  Its affecting your brain.

I also heard that they cast Patrick Ewings pee-nis as an oompa loompa. Does that mean he gets paid twice?

I agree. I am utterly disappointed that this story was false - it was a brilliant concept (well not necessarily Manson - but Tim Burton doing Willy Wonka)

I have watch willy wonka a bunch of times and i'm sorry, but that man is EVIL until the very end and the chocolate factory with the hands coming out of the walls, and the propeller blades ready to chop you up -- there is already a definite darkness about that place.

Also, the first movie is great, so doing a totally different slant on it would totally be the way to go instead of just remaking the first.

And yes, Wonderland is also a VERY dark place, so i'll be looking forward to a making of American McGees Alice for sure! I hope that one's true.  Will the Rabbit get stomped flat like he does in the game? Will the Duchess really eat children whole?  wonderfully dark!

Yes, I hear Wes Craven is directing the Alice movie.  It has potential to be "wonderfully dark" as you suggest, but I hope Craven keeps it somewhat intelligent, coherent, and odd at the same time--you know not a bunch of typical Hollywood bullsh*t.  Look back at some of his early work; it's a joke.  Final thought: pleas Wes, don't ruin the opportunity to make a classic film!  Perhaps McGee should help write and direct.

At the risk of being the motley of foolishness, one might like to see Jim Carrey inall his shame, angst, and glory.
