(Fox) Ang Lee has just released the kung fu masterpiece, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, starring Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh in the States. To score some additional income, he's turned to shooting commercials - car commercials for BMW. He is presently in New Jersey where he and the Tiger producer James Schamus are shooting with British actor Clive Owen.
Apparently, many big screen directors have been doing commercials to supplement their income. Such directors include Francis Ford Coppola, Spike Lee, Spike Jonze, and Joel Coen.
Lee and Schamus were supposed to start on another project - supposedly a musical - but with an actors strike looming, they've put those plans on hold.
Look for Oscar to smile on Crouching Tiger this awards season.

Just don't go see it for the story. It is the standard Chinese "I will avenge my master while on a quest and am trying to quit being a warrior" thing.
