Reliving the anticipation of Star Wars fans for Star Wars: Episode I, fans of Peter Jackson's upcoming Lord of the Rings film trilogy are ready to line up at select theatres--not for the first film, which doesn't open until Christmas, but for the new theatrical trailer, according to news from SciFi Wire.
Members of the Tolkien Guild are encouraging Los Angeles Rings fans to sign up to stand in line for 12 hours to see the first screening of the trailer, which will come attached to prints of New Line's Thirteen Days.
The trailer will screen before and after the first showing of Thirteen Days at the AMC Theaters in Burbank, Calif., at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 12. AMC is holding 250 tickets exclusively for guild supporters who wait in line, the group said.
The fan group is also encouraging fans in other cities to mount similar waiting campaigns.

I sat through Meet Joe Black for the Star Wars trailer.
I didn't stand in line for it thogh.
I'm gonig to go see Thirteen Days just to see the LotR trailer, but I'm not going to stand in line for that either.
The bonus this time is that Thirteen Days looks like it will be a better film than Meet Joe Black.
Anything with CGI nuclear explosions is worth a viewing, after all.... ;)

Tolkien Guild just doest not get it. Star Wars fans lined up to see the preview of what turned out to be a horrible movie. They lined up without any encouragement from Lucas. This Guild of Dorks thinks a following can be manufactured: it can't. Only a fantastic first episode can gain them a following. These a--holes will only embarrass themselves and this picture with lame endorsements like that. Then again Hollywood is as lame as it gets, with the possible exception of Canada.
