(AP) Steven Spielberg, producer and director of such films as E.T., Jurrassic Park, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan, is to be knighted by Great Britian. This is a honor usually bestowed only to those of British upbringing. Because of this, he will only receive an "honorary" title, but Spielberg was extremely humbled.
How cool is this? He won't be called "Sir", as no American can have this on his name, but he can add to his name "KBE"(I'm assuming Knight of the British Empire).
Spielberg was vacationing when he got word of this. He has most recently been working on Stanley Kubricks lifelong work, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, which will be released sometime in 2001. You can check up on all of Spielberg's work here.

I think this is a well-deserved honor. Not only does he deserve it for his film-making, but also the work he has done to help recognize the sacrifices of Holocaust victims.

I also believe that Steven Spielberg deserves this honor. After all, Hollywood doesn't want to recognize his true genious, but the rest of use do! I'm truly glad for him, he has made me laugh and has made me cry! Thank Steven Spielberg!

Steven Speilberg is one of the reasons I haven't completly abandoned major studio films for indie film. If anyone in the film industry is deserving of such an honor, Steven Speilberg is.
