And yet once again, Actor Robert Downey Jr. was back behind bars Nov. 25, Saturday night after he was arrested in Palm Springs, Calif., for drug possession, according to an ABC News report.
Just about three months ago, Downey, Jr. gained an early release from prison and had recently starred in several episodes of Fox television?s Ally McBeal.
Recently however, Palm Springs police received an anonymous call from the Merv Griffin resort. When they arrived, they found Downey Jr. alone in a room full of cocaine and methamphetamine. The actor was then charged with drug possession, being under the influence of drugs and committing a felony while on bail.
On Sunday, Nov 26, Downey Jr. was released on a $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court within 30 days.
Downey has got quite the record of legal troubles, dating back to June 1996 when he was stopped for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway and authorities found cocaine, heroin and a pistol in his vehicle. A month after that incident, he was found passed out on a child?s bed in a neighbor?s home. Three days later, he was arrested for leaving a recovery center.
In August 1999, he was was jailed after he admitted during a probation hearing that he was missing scheduled drug tests. Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira sentenced him to three years in prison for violating his probation.
And now, he's at it yet again. At least he's a damn good example of a man that never gives up. But in this case... lame.

Oh, please. Robert needs to find himself, not Jesus. Mr. Downey is attempting to blot out the sublimated rage that churns inside him. With all due respect to the above poster, Mr. Downey needs to love himself, not Christ. And he needs 10 to 20 years with an amazing therapist, not prison.

I agree with you. Having been an addict for 15 years myself, the only person who could help me was me. Now it's been almost 5 years since I've used anything and I am so happy. If it wasn't for the love and support of my friends and family, I wouldn't have made it.
Robert Downey Jr. has a disease and needs help. As long as he helps himself, his friends will most likely chip in and help. He's a talented actor who I enjoy watching on TV and the big screen. I hope he can figure out waht to do and can try to put his disease into remission.

I agreee with the three earlier comments...
1. Robert needs Christ in his life
2. he needs to love himself
3. He needs counselling, not prison.

downey needs help. I'm not totally sure whether he should or should not go to jail, but he sure as hell isn't doing too well as a "free man". The state keeps giving him another chance, and he manages to fuck it up somehow. Yeah he needs treatment, but he has to want help if it's going to be successful. I just hope he gets help before his number gets drawn.

I think everyone is missing the big picture. You talk about Jesus, and finding new meaning to life. The big picture is that Downey is God. He is a thespian in the highest degree. From "Johnny Be Bad" to "Air America" from "Heart & Souls" to "The Pick-Up Artist" Downey has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is an American Icon. He is the American dream. He is what every young actor wants to be. I know several people that would suck a fat cock just to be in his shoes for a second, and as God as my witness he will never go hungry again.
Oh yeah, why don't you all go and fuck yourselves you pathetic bunch of virus breeders.

If all of you are so fired up about Downey Jr. ( whom I personally like as an actor.) and his drug habit, why don't any or all of you do something about it. Write him a letter, tell him what you think, instead of wasting your time sitting at the computer making up nasty comments about other people.
Better yet, get out there and help those addicts that are in your own neighborhoods and help to stop further addiction. Push for laws that YOU believe will help stop it. Be it legalizing drugs or imposition of stronger penalties, whatever. Just do something.
I am involved! I am trying to make things better! What about you?

It is highly irresponsible to suggest that a simple belief in Jesus will help Robert Downey. That is called "magical thinking." You, my friend, are a magical thinker. You have offered nothing constructive to help this poor guy. Just something ignorant. Downey is in danger of losing his grip on reality through drug-use. It is not a battle with the devil; it is a battle with addiction.

First off, to those who love to cuss and act big with the 'f' words, seems to me you are in need of Jesus Christ yourself. Secondly, Downey is not God, but a talented actor who had alot of kids look up to him.
I actually got on to try and find where to write him at and I saw these obscene posts except for the few that wanted to help Downey out and you may say only yourself can help yourself but that is a lie. Only God can change someone who is so addicted that he can't stay sober even after living in jail.
I agree with the person who wrote why not get off your tails and do something for others instead of sit back and swear at them and judge them like you are a god, because you surely aren't. There is only one true living God and that is Jesus Christ. Try reading the Holy Bible sometime. It is the best selling book of all time. In the meantime, I will remember all these posts and keep praying for lost souls.

I have lost 2 really great friends to drugs and have a brother with the problem. It is a disease. A disease and an addiction. This is a serious disease not to be taken lightly. Had any of you gone through losing friends or family to drugs you would see the seriousness too. As to sucking someone off that is really his business and shows (if it is true) the extent of his illness. Good luck Robert is my suggestion. And keep fighting the urge, you CAN and WILL conquer.

Let's see, Jesus Christ..... hmmmmmmm, interesting concept, but you know he is a figment of your imagination. There never was and never will be a son of God. And as for God helping with anyone's problems, where was he when Luther King, Kennedy, and other leaders died for no known purpose? God is not the end all and be all of existence. You don't have to go to church to be a good person. And a simple belief in God or a god cannot and will not cure the world's problems. Only people can. If there is a God, I believe that THAT is what he wants. If there isn't, it's up to us anyway, isn't it?

Let's legalize drugs! Like Liquor! Then the Government can TAX it! It would put the Drug Dealers out of work, the IRS would get more money, the Social Security System would get more money and the industry could be sued for rehabilitation costs just like the tobacco industry was sued for medical costs.
Prohibition didn't work and neither does the "War on Drugs!" campaign. If people want drugs then let them go to the drug store and buy some.

What is really going on here? Robert Downey, a gifted man, is trying to destroy himself. Again and again. But why would a 35 year-old man at the top of his game want to destroy it all? Because he's under too much pressure and because there is deep, unresolved anger. I saw him on ALLY McBEAL the other night and it's plain as day he knows he's on a pop-crap TV show. I'm sure he's happy to have the paycheck, but he knows he's better than it (so is Calista Flockhart). We say, why is he doing that piece of crap? Well, for the same reasons you and I take a job. We need the money. We forget that actors are human beings with the same needs and desires and problems as the rest of us. And yet, we dehumanize them. Just look at these posts. We slander them, sling crap at them. Christ. No wonder he has a drug problem. You people don't understand how dedicated most of these actors are, how hard it is to achieve what they achieve. They take years of rejection and create careers out of it. But it's so hard on the mind that often the body cracks under the strain. This is what's happening to Downey. I respect him and I'm pulling for him.

Jesus.Jesus.Jesus.Jesus CHRIST!!!!stop it all of you.You know by continually responding to this "believer" your just giving him more weight, ignore the false idolizer. And try to refrain from using childish curse words, save it for a chat line.Have a bit of class. And as for YOU you shouldnt be touting your beliefs on anyone. If your religion is so powerful than you shouldnt have to go around convincing people.Shoving it down peoples throats is offensive, more offensive than any curse word could EVER be.And Jesus...well as far as I am concerned he was JUST a guy(in the immortal words of George Carlin)He may have been the son of God,or not but the chances are he was just a guy.Recruiting is for the Army, not for God.So can it.If christianity wasnt so corrupt and peppered with lies more people might believe what you have to say,but honestly save for your church group. And if you had done any research into Jesus you would know that His scriptures(whether they are authentic or not) state clearly that God is everywhere not is some building where your asked to make donations. If God is everywhere then open your heart, shut your mouth, and spread the love. Not THE WORDS OF JESUS.Live YOUR life not his.I'm sure the GUY would have wanted that. And as for Mr.Downey well I'm not quite sure what is best for him but it seems to me that he's really pissing his life away. It's such a shame,he is an incredible talent. It seems he is aware of his problem,so that's a good start as for kicking his habits well whether he becomes a jesus-freak or whatever to kick that habit that choice is his and if any of them work well hey!good on ya!!!Just get your shit together boy!
OOOOps I swore , sorry.
And just to let anyone know who may respond to this with childish wit,get a life.I won't be responding to any childishly engaging banter,I've got a life.I suggest you get one too.And try MAYBE to stick to the subject rather than
going off in kindergarten rants.If not,SHUT UP then.And no I'm not a satanist,mr.I believe in Jesus so much I can't SHUT UP.Do us a favor.shut up.
and if not,if it's all true about God and all the fire and brimstone,SEE YOU IN HELL.

(you try that for once). Like all of us PROBLEMS are fallen on us, whatever they may be, how little or huge they are. We all experience them. The fact that Downey has his problems shouldn't matter, Since You or I or the guy passing us on the street could have the same problems. You should NOT trigger the famous for making a mistake if you yourself makes mistakes. For All You Jesus BASHERS, a persons belief should NOT be of you concerd or be something to argue about. If someones personal belief helps them to get on with the day, rather than falling into drugs, then it should be respected.

Perhaps, we all need to sit back and look at what has been said, written here. And then we need to realize that it doesn't matter for a hill of beens. Nothing that we say here is going to change anyone else. It's too much.
Name calling and deity bashing. Have we lost so much that we can not respect other people? Or is it just that the shroud of anonymity that we have on the computer enables us to be what we think we want to be?

All substance and process addictions stimulate the portion of the brain known as the "pleasure center"(I wonder if if this isnt part of what is included when the apostle Paul wrote,"In the last days...men will be.. lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God," 2 Timothy 3:1,2,4.)Since the fall of the Garden of Eden, man has been unusually capable of getting into trouble with his human needs. After all, Eve got into trouble at the "grocery store". While looking for something to eat she came upom the tree God had declared off-limits. She lingered beneath its fruit-laden branches; it seemed such a shame to waste it all. Her mouth began to water. Surely God had created it for a reason. Didnt He give "us richly all things to enjoy" ( 1 Timothy ^:17, kjv)? Before Eve could think further, the serpent offered her just one tasty bite. (cmon we have all been there) Rationalizing away the instruction of the Lord God, she drew a breath and sank her teeth into the fruits savory flesh. Still not recognizing the eternal implications of her action, she turned to her husband who was lingering a short distance away and offered him a bite. Adam, too, chose the succulent morsel. I doubt it was avery big bite and for awhile it seemed not to matter-until they heard the sound of their Divine Companion striding to meet them. What had actually happened to Adam and Eve? Their action hardly seems wicked to a world whwer right and wrong are judged on the basis of harm to others rather than hurt to God. But their God-created appetite sought satisfaction in the forbidden. Since that moment, man has become susceptible to addiction.

THe Garden of Eden story is not the only clue the Bible gives us to addiction. King Solomon, the Old Testament's wisest man, made frequent observations of drunkards and gluttons and recorded thes observations in Scripture. What he wrote in Proverbs 23:30-35 describes the addiction process 3000 years before any of todays counselors ever saw their first addict. "Do not look on the wine when it is red," he wrote, "when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly; at the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper." This personification of the taste and effect of alcohol is loaded with revelation. Every addiction begins as an innocent quest for relief-"it goes down smoothly"-but like the sting of the viper, all unchecked addictions lead to death.(just like Roberts movie "less than zero")Whether its a physical death (alcoholism is the number 3 killer in the United States, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) or the death of a marriage because of sexual abuse or compulsive gambling, all addictions destoy lives. Addiction was no stranger to the Apostle Paul. In his writings to two of the early churches, he specifically prohibited the appointment of leaders who were addicts. The two Greek words he chose in speaking about the malady give clues to a biblical definition of addiction. To Timothy and Titus, Paul used the word paroinos when referring to those specifically addicted to wine. It actually means "beside wine," conjuring a picture of one always found near the bottle. In writing to Timothy in another place, Paul chose the word prosecho which means "to turn to." An addict, in the biblical sense, is one who turns to a substance or process in time of need. The clearest picture in the Word of God illustrating the powerful bondage of addiction and the strength of God to break it is the story of the Hebrews' escape from slavery in the land of Egypt. It is the story of a loving God eager to come down and deliver His people from the hands of a cruel master. It reveals the compassionate heart of God in reaching down with a power greater than their chains and leading them step-by-step from the desert of Egypt to the Promised Land of Canaan. It is the closest parallel in the Bible to the journey of the addict and provides a perfect model for physical, emotional and spiritual healing. it is from this story that our precription for healing will be drawn and applied to each phase of the addiction process and recovery. More than the story of a nation, Exodus foreshadows the delivering, healing power of Jesus Christ. In it lie God's secrets to overcoming the power of addictions cruel bondage in any life.

After scrolling through most of the posts, I couldn't let the conversation stand with a pathetic attempt at human expression with the extended quote from the bible. Have you no mind of your own? Can you compose without plagarizing ancient texts? Everyone else who has entered this conversation has had the guts to put some sliver of their own thought into their response. For the some the sliver is smaller than others.
This collective narrative may benefit Downey Jr. if he ever reads, so we can all say that we did get off our asses and do something. We reached out to another human being (albeit from the safety and comfort of our computers).

You true believers are a real hoot. You believe in such gothic bullshit! It's unbelievably funny! Guys: Jesus Christ and Charles Darwin were remarkable men, both equal in the eyes of evolution. Ta-tah!

Bom Shiva,
My best friend Mario has an ugly Amphetamine addiction. He's doing quite OK these days as he moved away from the city, but he still goes on a bender once in while. For example a couple of weekends ago when he snorted up half a gram of the stuff... He was not himself for almost a week after that.
How may I help him... I tell him I'm worried and that I love him... What more can I do??? I'm real worried cause I'm leaving for Asia in a month.
Tommy

There you go again. When will it end?
No one knows all of the reasons behind addiction. We certainly can NOT say that the bible refers to addiction as being a sympton of the disintegration of society. It is merely our translation of an "ancient text" that people have twisted to suit their own points of view.
Some of us have been raised to believe what our fathers and our fathers' fathers, etc. believed. We blindly follow along without stopping look and ask why or what if. Well, what if the bible ( yes lower case b) is just a book of fables, stories written to TEACH! Not "God's Word!"( in order to get the full effect, you have to say that in a really really deeeep voice.)
Based upon what is known about it, the bible can't be accepted as fact. We don't know why the authors wrote it. Perhaps, the first authors thought their stories would sell better if they claimed that it was the Word of God.
We each have our own opinion and that's ok, after all it is "the American way." However, even IF I believed in "Jesus" or "God", I would not shove it in your face and say, " We all need to go to church and become one with the Lord! That's why the world is going down the crapper!" ( I blame this misconception on the press.) Besides, you know the old adage, "People who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones."
We are EVOLVING. Nothing new, it's happened before. The pagan's believed in a god AND a goddess, they worshipped them as representatives of the earth and believed in the harmony of nature. Then this thing called christianity came along and some people thought "Hey, wow, this is cool. Let's all follow this path!" And now, we are moving on again, we are evolving.
Evolution is not only about changes in our physical being, it also emcompasses changes in our social character. As a Society we are pulling farther and farther away from a belief in a god. Who knows how many religions came before or how many more will come after.
Believe what you want, this was not intended in any way to change your points of view. It is just an expression of my belief that no forum should be used to promote other peoples religious beliefs. We all need to chose our own path.
And finally, if the only way you know how to communicate is to quote from or paraphrase the bible, then maybe you should take a subscription to Time or Newsweek or People or Playboy(girl). Wake up and smell the coffee, it's the dawn of a whole new world.

If you think you can't you won't. That's not bullshit, it's true. Thoughts are powerful. Remember: the past does not equal the future.

Do you meditate? It helped me give up alcohol. It seems a lame-ass thing to do at first until you realize how challenging it is to stop thinking. By focusing on your breathing something profound slowly enters your life. Not dull, but fascinating and powerful. It is a time every day when your life is your own and not anyone elses. Start with a book called THE RELAXATION RESPONSE. Clearly, there's shit you must deal with and a relaxed consciousness is more flexible to change and growth. Meditation can help you want to change. When I was a boozer (and etc.), I was just filling time in a curious way, almost as if I couldn't wait to get life over with. Just blur it all together and forget the bad parts. To be no one. Now I realize how much great stuff I missed and I'll never get that time back. But you know what? I learned so much. I don't think drugs are evil, I even believe in them, but they are not for me. I can't deal with them. You can't deal with them. I have my life back now. Quiting saved my marriage and brought me back in touch with my art. I'm not a speck anymore. Not pounded out flat every night. Everything is working perfectly. I don't know what will work for you; I'm not a therapist. But you're so obviously gifted. I don't know what that kind of attention is like, but it must be suffocating. Work to make time that is your own. Be selfish about that. That's actually what you are trying to do when you get high. But now, explore yourself instead. Yeah, it's a lot harder than snorting or knocking back a drink. But life isn't supposed to be easy. You're supposed to feel every damn step.

support a young man?
Hello there! My name is Paul. I'm 21. Right now I'm a fourth-year
student. My major is English & German. I'm also good at computers. My hobby is webdesign and programming. I've been to the US. I speak
perfect fluent English. My dream is to study and become a wealthy man.
When I was in the US I met a woman who had sponsored a teenager from Poland. Since that day I've been looking for somebody who could
help me to make my dreams come true. Please let me know if there's a
chance, a chance for my future. Sincerely yours, Paul. duvx@yandex.ru
