Willem Dafoe is currently in talks to replace John Malkovich as the villainous Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's upcoming Spider-Man movie, according to a news report from Variety.
Malkovich dropped out of Spider-Man in a dispute partly over compensation. That, and I believe there were other ideals in which Malkovich argued about, principally concerning the creative and commercial aspect of the film itself.
Now, Dafoe would play industrialist Norman Osborn, who becomes the Green Goblin after an experiment goes wrong.
And recently, Dafoe starred opposite Malkovich in the upcoming Shadow of the Vampire, a fictionalized account of the making of the silent vampire film Nosferatu. I remember seeing the previews to that movie in the theatre, and it definitely looks worthwhile.

Malkovich is from the Chicago school, Dafoe from the New York school. Dafoe is certainly more daring with his work as of late. Malkovich expects to much. Harry Osborne needs to be portrayed as a New Yorker, by a New Yorker. Give us Dafoe.

Forget the Green Goober- he's not even a good opponent. With today's special effects, Spiderman should be battling someone (or something!) with far greater powers like Venom.

Malkovich is overated and would bring absolutely nothing to the table. Dafoe is a freak and the film needs that.
