Famous Psychic sues Pokemon

Uri Geller, the psychic famously known for his telekinetic spoon-bending, has sued Nintendo for stealing his name and trademark psychic powers and using them in an evil, occult Pokemon character. Geller's lawsuit was filed in the Los Angeles federal court, and demands that the Japan-based company cease using Geller's name and pay substantial general and punitive damages, according to various news reports.

The issue centralizes on the character "Un Geller," which is called "Kadabra" in the United States. Geller's lawyers argue that the character makes unauthorized use of Geller's identity, name and his signature image of a bent spoon.

And in addition, Geller's lawyers argue that the five-pointed star on the character's forehead, is likened to the six-pointed yellow stars worn by Jews in Nazi Germany. The character also carries lighting-bolts on its chest, which Geller's lawyers interpret as being similar to the lighting-bolt symbol of the Nazi SS during World War II. Basically, it's interpreted as quite the evil character, and according to the lawyers and Geller, pays no justice to Geller himself, a former Israeli paratrooper, who now resides in England.

"Nintendo turned me into an evil, occult Pokemon character," Geller said in a press statement. "Nintendo stole my identity by using my name and my signature image of a bent spoon. I'm filing this lawsuit against Nintendo, not only to protect my name, but also, to tell the world before the start of the holiday season that I have nothing whatsoever to do with these violent characters that have a negative impact on children."

And generally speaking, Pokemon doesn't even make sense to most people. Remember South Park's spoof on Pokemon: Chimpokomon? That was a classic.

I think Geller and his lawyers are being stupid, I am an Orthodox Rabbi's daughter and my dad and I agree on this. For one thing, Geller was a frood, the second thing is we don't care about a five pointed yellow star, and a lightning bolt is the symbol of psychic power, plus Kadabra isn't that bad.

Does Geller LOOK like Kadabra?? Does he wear a star on his head and lightning bolts on his chest? Is he the only one in the world named Geller? You cannot trademark the image of a spoon being bent. That's like trying to trademark the image of an empty bag of potatochips. Unless Geller's trademark was a pokemon bending a spoon. Then he'd have a case. If this case were to be taken seriously, there are a LOT of people who are going to be in trouble - like the people who made The Matrix. There was spoon bending goin' on there. This case will be laughed out of court. How this guy ever managed to get a lawyer to stand behind him is beyond me. Maybe hypnosis?

This is so totally dumb.
First of all, pokemon isn't evil... its cute and it doesn't influence children in bad ways.  Its called kadabra because its earlier form was called abra.

Omigod, POKEMON!!!! ME encanta los pokemonos!!! Ariba!!! Me gusta pikachu and his amigos all kickin serious ass. Especially the pokemons about a billion times their size. Like a little plant some how manages to kill this huge snake made outta rock. Totally realistic in my eyes. Anyway....POKEMON!!!

ok first things first, who ever based their post on the fact kadabra follows abra, well done, you retard, that is the English/American name created to make sence to AMERICAN CHILDREN. the formentioned case is all about the Japanese name "Un-Geller" very close to "uri-gellar" agreed. Also I read, the Japanese kana(symbol) for n can be misread as the kana for ri. making the spoon bending characters name "U-ri-geller".Get it yet? I don't know enough about jews, nazis or the hollocost to really comment on the lightning bolts/stars etc,but i don't think it is too ridiculous to presume they are just there for decoration, it is a childrens show afterall. but it is obvious enough to me uri gellar was definatly an inspiration for the design of the character, he should be happy he was famous enough to have a cartoon character  designed with him in mind!
