Scully Files For Contract Extension

(Yahoo)Duchovny's gone, but X-Files is not. At least that's what the story is for now. With Robert Patrick, aka the T-1000, filling in for Duchovny, the future of the X-Files is really up in the air. Merely proceeding is going to be a hit or miss thing. But that doesn't seem to bother Gillian Anderson, who extended her contract for another year - carrying her through the 2001 season. But just because she has done so, doesn't mean X-Files will continue to exist. Producer Chris Carter's contract ends after this season, so if he's gone, so is the X-Files, and if they tried to continue on, it would be worse of an idea than hiring someone to replace Mulder to begin with. Of course, there is hope that the series will become revitalized with the introduction of a new character. Carter's hoping to do the Star Trek thing and make a movie series out of the X-Files even with the TV series gone, but in order to do that, the TV series has to be successful until its end.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The X-Files is done. Finished. Anderson is a decent of enough actress to get another gig, so she's not going to be pitched to the side when the X-Files is no more. But time will tell on all of this...
