As most of you are already aware of, The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy is being produced as you read this, and the first of the three movies is slated for release Christmas 2001, with each sequel coming out a year from that date. Director Peter Jackson is filming all three of the stories simultaneously, instead of focusing on one and worrying about the sequels later. This is understandable though because even if the first film, The Fellowship Of The Ring, does poorly, the trilogy as a whole might do well and must be told in full. So far anticipation for the trilogy is much greater than it was for Star Wars Episode I. On the first day the teaser trailer was released, nearly 2 million people downloaded it...many more than for SWE1. You can find out more information about it at the official website .
The cast includes Elijah Wood, playing the main character, Frodo Baggins, Sean Astin playing the role of Sam Gamgee, and Sir Ian McKellan as Gandalf. Liv Tyler, John Rhyss-Davies, and Cate Blanchett also play major roles.
The budget for this one is $120 million. Lets hope that that is adequate(God knows, it should be). I personally can't wait for this one to come out. I'm anticipating this one more than I was Episode I, but I'm also hoping that this doesn't get as overhyped as Star Wars did. You can read more about LOTR here. |
