Arnold and Terminator 3: I'll Be Back By Azad, (DT) June 29, 2000 4:08 PM PT |

Writer Tedi Serafian told Variety that it was his draft of the proposed Terminator 3 that lured Arnold Schwarzenegger back into the game. "It was pretty shocking, because it was my first draft," said Serafian. "He read it, we sat down, he said how much he liked it and gave me some notes, and then he said yes." Schwarzenegger had repeatedly said that he wouldn't sign on to the proposed third installment of the popular film series unless Terminator creator James Cameron would be directing it. But now, Schwarzenegger is planning to return to star in the proposed film, with or without Cameron. Serafian said he wrote the sequel hoping that Schwarzenegger would be back to play the familiar role. "Even though Arnold had said publicly that he would not be involved without Cameron, I wrote it half for him, while leaving open the possibility it would not be him. He asked, 'Where were the one-liners?' and I said, 'They would only work if you said them, and they'll be back in the next draft.'"
