(ZDNet) The "upgrade" to Windows 2000, Windows 2001(code named 'Whistler') has been found on various college and other Internet web sites.?Apparently there's not much difference in that and the newly released Windows 2000.?You would think that if someone were to pay as much as they do for a new Windows OS, they would want something more than bug fixes.?According to some that have already installed it, all that they've seen is a few more "...HTML enhancements to folders to simplify things for novice users..." Good that's all we need.?The "simpler" things become for the novice users, the more convoluted it becomes for the super users.?Try changing your DNS in Windows 2000.?What once was 2 steps in NT4, now is 4 or more steps in Win2K.?If Microsoft keeps innovating, we admins are going to go crazy.?On another note, the Windows 2000 upgrade from Windows 98 (code name 'Millineum') is scheduled for release sometime late 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.?Read more.
