(CNet) Corel is offering $5.19 million to settle a class action lawsuit from shareholders against them.?The suits alleged Corel artificially inflated the price of its stock in 1997 by making material misrepresentations about the company.?They also allege that Corel CEO Michael Cowpland and other senior executives sold millions of Corel shares at artificially high prices.?In a separate matter relating to Cowpland's C$20.4 million stock sale in mid-August 1997, he was charged in October with three counts of illegal insider trading. This should be a lesson to all:?When you're running a company whose stock is publicly traded , it's very important to disclose your losses.?
