A big win for American Beauty on Oscar night could spike ticket sales enough to make it the most profitable film in DreamWorks history, outperforming Saving Private Ryan and Antz, the Los Angeles Times observed today (Friday).?Such a result would be all the more remarkable given the fact that Hollywood initially showed little interest in the script.?The Times quoted producer Dan Jinks as saying, "Every major studio except DreamWorks passed on the screenplay." The film, which cost $15 million to make, has to date earned $94 million in North America and nearly 200 million abroad.
