How AOL Screwed Netscape
By Acheron, (DT)

There's a really good article over at MSNBC about the "rise and fall of the Internet giant, Netscape." I never really thought too much about the merger back in 1998.?Sure I thought, "Well, Netscape's going to turn to righteous crap after this AOL deal," but never really thought much about it after that.?Netscape is buggy as ever, and it seems that a beta version of Mozilla will never come out.?Internet Explorer is becoming the browser of the times - not by choice, but by necessity.?The article talks about how Netscape lost all of its founding members.?Most jumped ship after the AOL deal, or got involved with some other startup company.?AOL bought Netscape for the name, and the name alone.?AOL users don't even use Netscape's browser by default, they use Internet Explorer.?Goes to show you how AOL values it's subsidiaries.?Netscape's morale is low, and things aren't looking great as it stays a drone of the AOL behemoth.?It's a really interesting read.?Click here...
