Mike Myers will earn his first $20 million payday to star in "Sprockets" for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. The studio has greenlit the Myers-Michael McCullers script with plans for a summer start. A director has not yet been named. Myers has been an actor-for-hire in such features as "So I Married an Axe Murderer" and "54," but he has found more boxoffice success with his creations "Wayne's World" and "Austin Powers," both of which spawned sequels. The hope is for "Sprockets", which revolves around Dieter, an avant-garde German movie critic/talk-show host who obsessively asks guests if they would like to touch his monkey -- to follow in the same vein. Imagine chairman Brian Grazer will produce the project, which the studio hopes to have ready for release in early 2001. Myers and McCullers collaborated on the "Austin Powers" sequel. Full Story... |
