? It seems that the makers of New Line's film trilogy The Lord of the Rings may be having second thoughts to shoot in New Zealand's Tongariro National Park. This park also happens to be the oldest such park in the country. It has been reported that the filmmakers might be dissuaded by the remote location of the park. Moving people, animals, props and equipment into the location may prove to be extremely difficult. It has also been reported that the country's Department of Conservation isn't too fond on allowing the film crew, who number more than 400 people, to shoot in the preserve. Director Peter Jackson's three-film screen adapation of J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, is filming around New Zealand and should look forward to a December 2001 release. Aside from that, I also learned that Weta Visual Effects based in New Zealand, is involved in the pre-production of the trilogy films.
