AOL blocks iCaster from AIM
By Acheron, (DT)

The instant messaging battle has begun again.?AOL has blocked the instant messaging program iCaster from interacting with AIM.?iCaster combines a mulitmedia player with a messaging service that lets a person on one end send MP3s, videos, CD tracks, etc to another person to view/listen to.?This, of course, isn't the first time something like this has happened.?Microsoft tried to interoperate with AIM in the past, but after months of talk, they gave up.?This isn't the best idea on AOL's part.?They're already the largest Instant Messaging company out there(they also own ICQ, sadly).?This is just one more way the general public can look down on the company.?Maybe they'll wisen up and start being a little more cooperative.?I just started using AIM, not out of want, but out of necessity, and if there's another player out there that finally gets to talk to AIM clients, then I'll switch in a heartbeat.?Read more.
