(Wired)- It's time to update an old adage for the Internet era.?"There are lies, damn lies, and marketing campaigns." Microsoft recently launched a counter-marketing attack against Sun Microsystems, and even set up a Web site to challenge Sun's "We're the Dot in Dot Com" ads.?The Dot-Truth, posts responses to claims Sun has made against Windows 2000.?Software experts said that while there are some truths to Sun?s claims, others are way off base.?The main contention -- bound to make Sun and Unix supporters bristle or chuckle ?- is the claim that Windows 2000 is more scalable and reliable than Sun?s Solaris.?Customers who use both platforms don't buy it.?"I find my Sun systems are up for months at a time, but my NT systems have to reboot all the time," said Jay Zimmet, director of information technology at Applied Micro Circuits, in San Diego, California.?More ...
