Christian is leader of a group of monks living in the hills outside Algier. Although the community outside is mainly populated by Muslims, he and his group managed to maintain peace with them by understanding and respecting their beliefs and traditions, even studying their holy book, the Koran. They also offer food and other assistance in any way they can. However, civil unrest has escalated to war, and they preferred to stay neutral and chose not take sides.
