Mark this day in the history books.?For the first time, Yahoo! underwent its first completely successful Denial of Service attack.?While passwords and email weren't affected, most of the services that Yahoo! offers were offline for 3 hours until about 1:30 PST.?The company estimates that "millions" were lost.?DoS attempts are quite regular, but the system that Yahoo has set up reroutes resources before anything damaging happens.?This particular attack came so quickly that the system couldn't defeat it.?Yahoo previously prided itself as "hacker proof." I don't know -- if you ask me, stating something like that means that you're just asking for it.?If I were a cracker (which I'm not), I'd try and crack Yahoo just on principle.?You can read the whole article here.
